Baptisms and graduation
We were supposed to start at 10 am. But things did not move till noon. I guess that’s how things work here.
Nevertheless we conducted baptism for 17 people in a nearby pond. The water was brown in colour. Some ladies were washing their clothes in the pond and one was washing a catch of prawns in the same muddy water. My friends from Singapore will never eat food from this place after seeing this. But it was a joy to see people committing their lives to Jesus and boldly proclaiming their faith in spite of the many persecution in this state.
In the evening we conducted the Graduation ceremony for 12 students who have been studying in the training centre under the church planters program. More than 100 people had gathered for the ceremony. Many of them travelled from more than 100 km to be here. These people are the fruits of the church planters work.
This is the first graduation ceremony in Chharttisgarh. It was simple and a bit haphazard but historcial for PEC.
After the graduation, we had s meeting with all PEC church planters. There were 27 of them. I shared with them the importance of integrity in the lives and ministry. Most of them had needs for transportation and church buildings. At least two church buildings and two motorcycles are needed. Each church will cost about $5000 and the motorcycles $600 each.
