Bethany Chapel, Klang

Image
Once again it was my joy to to worship at Bethany Chapel, Klang Malaysia. It was indeed a blessing to be again with this congregation which has grown in spite of the many challenges. As it was Pentecost Sunday, I spoke on the purpose why the Holy Spirit was given. Many people came forward for prayer during the alter call, and the Holy Spirit moved in a very powerful way. Some spoke in tongues for the very first time and the Holy Spirit just took over. Praise God It was also a great time with Pst Stephen Mohan and family. It was indeed a refreshing time. Praising God for this wonderful partnership.

The Great Commission or the Great Omission?

"The Church is also late. The agents of Satan have gone even to the remotest places before a Christian missionary could step in there" - Stanley. The above statement was sent to me in a  devotion  by a friend. As I began to meditate on the quote and the journey PEC Love Nepal team undertook, I am asking the question, "How much of the Great Commission has been fulfilled by me?" The Lord gave us the Great Commission in  Mat 28:19-20  -  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,  baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,     and teaching  them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you  always, to the very end of the age.” Local evangelism and world missions are two sides of the same coin. Both are important  and  must be  perused  with  equal  urgency.  While the  social  networks of the  world  systems move faster into the unknown regions, the  Church of Jesus Christ unfortunately is st

Another New Beginning : PEC Love Nepal Project

Alvin, Alex, Vimala and Devona at the Singapore Airport Today a team of four from PEC departed for Nepal. This is in support of the PEC Love Nepal Project.   Millions have been displaced as a result of the horrendous earthquake that hit Nepal a few days ago. Thousands have died and the number is still increasing. The Lord put within our hearts to do something to help the victims in whichever way we can. In two weeks we raised slightly more than Sing $10,000 Our contact in Katmandu is Pst Yam, an HI alumni, whom I have been acquainted with over the last few years.  Over the next three days the team will be visiting three places affected by the earthquake. Gorka, Godavari Paudol and Chokati. They will be distributing basic essentials like tents, tin roofs, dry rations and other food items. They will also be surveying the needs for future planning. We hope to help about 250 families this time. We pray that through these endeavours by PEC, we will be able to show the love

Mothers - A special tribute

Image
Today is mother's day again and I am sure almost everyone has some good things to say about our moms. As I reflect on this day, two women come to my mind. After Sunday morning service My mom. This year she is 75 years old. I thank God for her, the many sacrifices she has made for me, the family and for the kingdom. She is an epitome of love, patience and a true disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are so many people whose lives have been transformed as a result of her unwavering quest for the kingdom. Only heaven will tell. Just last week she made a contribution for a church building in India. Even at this age, with a minim source of income, she gives generously for the kingdom. Truly a mother in all essence of the word. She indeed is the wind beneath my wings. My wife . My children are blessed with a mother who has no comparison. She is not one among equals...there are no equals. Proverbs 31:28 - "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed"

Gazing into the crystal ball

Acts 1:6-8 -  Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”  He said to them:  “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.   But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” There's always a lurking inquisitive in the human mind to know the future. And its a reasonable inquisition. If only we knew the imminent, we would have been prepared and taken the necessary avoiding actions. To the ill-informed, this anxiety drives to them seek counsel from  the  sooth sayers and the  astrologers, a  misdemeanor   punishable by death in the Old  Testament . In the  modern informed age, we still see dignified men, kneeling before birds and the like, in the hope that the pea brain of the parrot will  prognosticate  of what is to come. We laugh at such degeneratio
