Looking ahead - 2018

The year draws to an end A new one is in sight It passed so swiftly,  Vaporisation is a lame comparison. And oh what a year it has been It never fails a surprise They came in different shapes and sizes, Only some we wished had never synthesised  But in the midst of the harrowing whirlwind One thing remains untouched  He who stilled the waters and calmed the seas Had always shadowed me. In every trial and every storm His presence, His love often pursues And by the still small voice All tensions sedate An assurance that He will never leave nor isolate He who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrow Will He withhold any, From the ones for whom His life , He lay Hence no matter what the New Year brings  Uncertainty, fear or threats maybe With Him by my side, the precious Word my guide Come what may, we are here to stay. I must shine, I   must reproduce so that man may see the good works

Wonderful Christmas Service

Image
Although some of our families were travelling, we had a wonderful Christmas service today. The church was packed to overflowing. We had a surprise visitor. Sis Rasi's nephew, Tommy visited us this morning together with Beng Kee and Geok Hwa. What a joy it was to see them The Sunday School kids gave a special number. I shared n "The Joy of Christmas". It was a gospel message. We had some new visitors. Praying that the Word sown will bring forth fruits in due season. TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Its Christmas Eve

First time in my life I am missing Christmas Eve service in PEC. DOn't worry I have not backslided. I was preaching in another church. Boscombe Family Church in Joo Chiat. Rev Ezekiel Tan, the senior pastor of the church,  invited me to share a gospel message as it was they outreach program during Christmas. About 150 people gathered for the service, some new ones. I shard on the "Joy of Christmas". Some people came forward for prayer after the service. I had a good time. Thank you Jesus for the opportunity.

My heart

My heart hurts, it bleeds It may be an exaggeration But it feels like a torment Yet the causes not organic, External, A strange transference, From tormented hearts Blame it on the shepherd’s heart Just like the Great Shepherd’s, crushed by compassion For those listing and halting But yet again the Rhema pleads One has to bow between his knees, If the fury of heaven is to be suspended and  for mercy to hold its sway Perchance another's misgivings  rescinded and the evil  heart by grace transcended

Christmas program for the migrant workers

Image
Yesterday we hosted a christmas program for the migrant workers in their Dormitory. The authorities were kind enough to allow us to use their premises for the function and the Honourable Member of Parliament for Sembawang-Canberra GRC was the GOH for the occassion. About 60 members from PEC were there and about 400 migrant workers attend the function. We had Christmas carols, games, special items and also s short sharing of the gospel. The whole program went on well and I was impressed by the level of commitment from our members. Truly praising God for this.  Sharing the Word The GOH also gave a short speech. Our own dancing team This is the first time PEC has done an external program in such scale. The feedback was great. Now we are praying that those who heard the Word will respond and be found in the House of the Lord, The 'A' Team from PEC

Remembering the faithful

Image
IN REMEMBRANCE OF MR ROBERT PERIASAMY  Jan 1930 – 17 Dec 2009 Eight years have gone swiftly by.   But it seemed only like yesterday Another witness translated To join the other cloud of witnesses (Heb 12:1) Like them he too loved the Lord, Served Him faithfully   Finished his race victoriously.   Proud to be his son.   We cherish the memories. A life that has been truly transformed (2 Cor 4:17) We miss him but not for long. (1 Tess 4:17)

Unfading love

Image
We had a wonderful Christmas outreach program "entitled the Unfading love". The whole program was coordinated by the youths in partnership with the Sunday School kids. I had no clue what to expect. But what I witnessed was simply outstanding. The script, the outdoor arrangement, the decorations, the coordination and the performance were nearly perfect. The scenes were changed seamlessly and the atmosphere intense. The message of Christmas shone through crystal clear and I was spellbound. Praise God for the young people in PEC. That have come of age. To God be the glory.

Facing challenges??

Life is full of challenges, Some exciting, some frustrating, others discouraging, We welcome the exciting ones, frown at the frustrations, but often question the discouraging, But these are necessary evils. They help shape, mould and mature what would otherwise be a dark, aimless and a degenerate frame, In the midst of the undesirable, take heart, His grace is sufficient for every trail And His presence is the embracing antidote for every tumultuous storm "Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way." James 1:2-4 (MSG)

Its snowing in New York

Image
Its Saturday morning and its snowing here in New York. Temperature is about about 0degC. And it's snowing heavily. It is Jeya's first experience in snow. Just went out and walked in the snow. Well became kids again. Dinner at a restaurant on Friday

God is always faithful

Image
I was much troubled Wednesday morning. Was up at 3:00AM. Could not sleep, not sure if it was jet-lag or things in church that has been troubling. It was cold, temperatures must be below 5degC. But I did not feel the cold. Was in tears and agony as I prayed for some families in church who have been hurt and going through difficult times. I was perspiring. My church leaders were doing they best to handle the situation but still I was not able to take things off my mind. It comes with the responsibility, I guess. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, especially when your members are hurting and relationships are threatened. Yes..."leave it to God" ....Hmmm... easier said than done!!! Felt that God was distancing himself from me. No one around me seems to understand what I was going through. My leaders were telling me, "Don't worry, enjoy your holidays". I just couldn't. Even the last few days here in New York, my mind was still "back home". This

Discovering New York

Image
Jeya and I spent the last two days discovering New York. Jessica had to work so we were on our own. We finally get to be alone together, without the disturbance of anyone,  We took the subway and visited a few places. Yesterday we walked on the Brooklyn Bridge. Spectacular view of the city from the Bridge. Weather was quite pleasant. Beautiful view from Brooklyn Bridge. Being kids again But we were quite saddened with what we witnessed in this city. Near North Harlem, it was littered and people so rude and valour. Even in the trains, teenagers, both boys and girls, were using swearing words and vulgarities. I was like...OMG, what is happening in this place. This nation needs Jesus more than India or China. The "four-letter"word was like "please or thank you" here. Just can't believe it. At least we are more civilised back in Singapore.

On my way to NY

Sitting at the lounge at T1. Waiting for my flight to the US to meet Jessica. Jeya went there ahead on Friday. Last overseas trip for the year 2017. Looking forward to this break with Jeya. This morning I spoke on Malachi 1 - Giving our best to God.  Spoke on three areas we need to give our best to God, based on the Message Bible reading of Malachi 1:7-8. “ When you say, ‘The altar of  God   is not important anymore; worship of  God   is no longer a priority,’ that’s defiling. And when you offer worthless animals for sacrifices in worship , animals that you’re trying to get rid of—blind and sick and crippled animals—isn’t that defiling? Try a trick like that with your banker or your senator—how far do you think it will get you?”  God -of-the-Angel-Armies asks you. Highest Reverence Highest Worship Highest sacrifice We need to give God the Highest reverence in the following areas: In our Personal Life In our Priorities In our Perplexities

Promise verse for Dec 17 - 2 Cor 6:16

Image
Its already Dec and time has passed so fast this year. 40 people turned for up for the morning prayer at 6AM. Highest for the year of the early morning prayer. This is the promise verse for the month. Bro Kumar shared the Word.  This month is packed with so many activities, especially for Christmas. In all our business, lets not forget His presence and that we are the salt and the light of this world.

Serving at Kuantan, HIAA

Image
Yesterday I finished my sessions of Biblical Mandate, a subject close to my heart. A total of 17 participants from various fields. I am not a theological but I poured out my heart to them, in very practical terms.  By the end of the fourth session, I can see many visibly moved and some really to compose themselves. I myself was visible moved when I shared about Reena's near death experience. For the first time I could hardly control my emotions, as I recounted the trying journey, Jeya and I had to plough through. No parents should go through such situations in their lives. But at the end we can truly be grateful to our wonderful God who has always been faithful.  I did not have time to mingle with the participants as I had to make my way to the bus station. Pst Wee was so kind to come and pick me up and send me again back to the station. An elderly Pastor but displayed what servant leadership is all about. Praise God for such wonderful people. Very interestin

Arrived at Kuantan

Image
Waiting at Central Bus Station at Kuantan at 5:00AM I arrived at the Central Bus Station Kuantan, in Pahang just before 5AM this morning. I departed.    Lakin Centre last night at 11:30PM.   Did not sleep well in the bus though.  My host, Pst Wee,  is coming to pick me up at 6AM. Good thing there is free  wifi at the station. I am here for the National Leadership Seminar organised by the HI Alumni Association in Kuantan. This is the first time this association is organising a NLS. I am grateful for being invited and this is my first trip to Kuantan. Very excited and looking forward to the seminar.  And there is free WIFI here. Praise God.

Need for church building in the mission field.

There is a need to built a number of churches for our church planters. We want to built at least four in AP/Telangana to be ready for dedication in Jan 18. Each budding would cot about Sing $6000. We are looking for like minded partners to bless the believers with a church building to come together to worship Jesus as Lord.

Biblical Mandate

Image
Was up at about 5AM and went for Finished my sessions today. Yesterday I did HI Vision and Session 1 of Biblical Mandate. There were about 25 participants. I also had good time meeting with the Myanmar Alumni Organising committee. Good people with passion. Great to meet up with Rev John Thang. I was the RC when he came to Maui as a participant in 2009. So good to meet him after 8 years and he has not changed a bit, except some white hair on the sides. We had a good conversation over dinner at the "Shangri-la". Hmmm Today I did Sessions 2&4. The translation took up much time and so I had to skip some parts. But the participants got the message. Thank you Holy Spirit for convicting them. With the organising team

Hectic weekend.

Image
Settled comfortably at the usual lounge at T1. Special thanks to my friend and missions partner Nick Chew. Right now I am waiting for my departure to Yangon. This is my first NLS in Myanmar. Praising God for the opportunity to impact the nationals for their nation.. Looking back it was an hectic weekend. Then we headed off to Toa Payoh Methodist Church to attend Equip's "Salt and Light " Conference. ( from PEC attended the one day seminar. The it was straight to work for the night shift. Finished at 8:30AM this morning and straight to church. This mooning I spoke on teh fruit of the Spirit, Gal 5:20-23, focusing on Faithfulness. I spoke on teh following:

Heading Home

Image
Finally in Dubai Airport and heading for home. Missing all at home and in church. Can't wait to get back. Still have a few more hours to go before departure. It has a been blessed time with good people in Dubai. Some reflections: Two unpleasant incidents. Marina area Foreigners always make fun of Singapore as a "fine City" meaning there are fines for almost everything. But I found Dubai was worst.  Villa on the Palm I arrived one day earlier and was walking around in the Marina area (where the rich and famous lived). The streets were a bit complicated and I strayed into the tracks of the train. I quickly rushed to the station and suddenly a Filipino rushed out and gave me a shelling for walking within the restricted area. She sounded more like an "Arab than a Filipino".  She detained me and was frantically trying to call her supervisor. "I guess she had struck lottery" I tried to explain to her it was my first day in Dubai but she ke

Desert experience

Image
Getting ready to board the bus for the excursion to the desert.  We had a special treat today. An experience in the desert. After our sessions, in the evening we were taken for an excursion to the UAE desert.  It was about an hours's drive from our hotel. This is my first experience. First an exciting  rollercoaster dune 4x4 vehicle safari ride, racing up and down the sands. That's me behind This was followed by a camel ride.  It was high but quite comfortable though Don't worry. We are not drunk, Its non alcoholic drink With Bijoy around, there is no dull moment. The rest of the evening was spent having fellowship with the HI leaders. Low tables and sitting on comfortable chusions. During dinner, we were entertained with some Arabian cultural events. All was good, except for the last performance. Part of the package I guess.  With Bijoy Sangma Nevertheless the desert experience was one off my bucket list and the fellowship

Cultural Night

Image
We had good reports from various representatives and discussions. Specially moved by the presentation by the Alumni from Iraq. We had a some discussions as well. Great team and good participation. And it was really fun to be with these men and women. SE Asia group giving an item Later in the evening we had a cultural night, where the various cultures were exhibited in praise and worship to our Lord. Blessed to be in the presence of God's people. With Bro Bijoy Sangma The best of the consultation was meeting Bijoy Sangma. I only met him once briefly in Hyderabad some years back. But this time I really got to know him better. What a gem. Funny and yet with such great passion for the Lord. We spent hours in the night talking about family, ministry and listening to his wonderful testimony. Not forgetting his funny spontaneous jokes.  Praise God for such gifted and committed man of God.  Simply a joy to be around him.
