He is here

This morning Jeya and I drove to church about 5:30AM. Some folks said that they wanted to come to church early in the morning to prayer. I was very tired but I thought I would encourage them by showing up. Unfortunately no one turned up. It was just me and my wife. But God showed up. His tangible presence was very real. I lifted all my church members, everyone by name into His presence with their specific needs. I know He heard us this morning. My experience prompted me to pen the following lines. I hope it blesses someone. It was dark, the dawn breaking I was tired, my body aching But still I came Thinking some weary soul needs ME But strangely, the room was empty It was just I I turned to the Lord, and asked why I grumbled in frustration, why shouldn't I, I could have slept a little longer, deemed a little more But then a small little voice. I am here, It is I Can I have this time, just you and I In all our business, lets not forget our quite

PEC's 54th Church Day Celebration

Image
The young MCs Today we celebrated  our 54th Church Day. The theme was God's faithfulness. What a joy it was to see our people come together for the celebration. The next generation was leading in most of the preparations and even in the service. Pst Alvin shared the Word and I summed up the key points and closed the service. We presented gifts to the outgoing church board members and to the challengers. These people have been the pillars of the church and we really wanted to honour them. I told the church that we need to do teh following if we want to see another 54 years: First, you have a responsibility to God for how you serve Him through His church. Second, as a church member you have a responsibility to obey Christ and be his hands and feet in our world Third, we are called as church members to love one another love the church as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. Truly God has been faithful to PEC. This church has seen been through so

A new beginning in Agra

Image
We are now moving onto the next level. It has always been my desire to motivate and challenge churches in Singapore and Malaysia to start their own church planting movement. Pro 3:3-5 -v"He will grant you the desires of your heart..." My desire came true today. Pst Stephen from BethanyLife speaking at the inauguration service BethanyLife in partnership with True Life church have started the first CP Training program in Agra. I had shared PEC's work in India with BethanyLife leaders many times. They have now taken the challenge and they felt this was the right time for them.. The aim is to train church planters to reach out to the state of UP. My role was just to connect  the two parties together and lay down the framework. This is the beginning of many new and great things to come. First batch of CP with their Pastors and sponsors I was so overjoyed to see the picture of this inauguration. Praise God for Pst Stephen Chandran Mohan and Pst Pathi from BethanyLife

Missions in Myanmar - Update

Image
Bro Victor Goh conducted 3 days teaching sessions for our church planters on the subject of Spiritual Gifts. 11 students are attending our church planters training program. On Tuesday I was invited to speak in a village. Pst Paulson from Singapore who heads the Peniel Myanmar Missions is working amongst the Indians in Myanmar. He is doing a great work and has a few outreach work. This village is in Tawalane, in Thanglyin District. About 30 people attended the meeting and we prayed for many who responded to the message. There are thousands of Indians in Myanmar who have not heard the gospel. There is really so much work that needs to be done. This morning Pst Paulson took me to another work, in a village called Hlaing Thayer, about an hour south of Yangon. It rained heavily. About 15 people gathered for the meeting. t was good to see the work of Pst Paulson and his workers. They work in very difficult areas.  In the evening, we visited Pst Edward Jo Jo's

Sunday service at Adonai City Church

It rained heavily last night.  IT has been raining everyday since we arrived and it gets flooded very easily. The electric power supply was cut because some cables caught fire due to the rain. Our water supply was also cut and we could not shower or use the toilet. No fan and no aircon so we had to open our windows. That meant "mosquitos". You must remember MTC is situated in a village, far from the luxuries  of our own HDB flats. Bro Victor working on his laptop and our "nets" So we had to zip up our mosquito nets. Thank God it was cool because of the rain. Pst John Phongshar said it was very unusual for the power to be cut as it was supplied by a private company. Thye had not experienced a power cut in he last one year. I asked my church to pray for us that we can have the power back. Praise God at 2:40 in the morning, the power came back. In the morning, we left for the morning service, stopping at Shwe Pu Zun for breakfast. This is one of the best

Ushering and Hospitality Seminar

Image
Today Bro Victor conducted the seminar. About 50 participants from different churches attended the seminar. Bro Victor did the same seminar in PEC and I thought it will be good for the churches in Myanmar as well. The repose was good. Praise good. IN the afternoon I took one session on Psalms 15 - The characters of a citizen of heaven. We closed the session about 2:30PM.

4th Batch Church Planters' Inauguration

Image
I was excited to go to Yangon again. This will be the inauguration  of the 4th batch of church planters. Bro Victor from Eternal Life AG, cam along with me. This brother has such passion for missions and he sponsored this 6 month program. Blessed to know that there are people who give sacrificially for the work of the ministry. Our arrival was delayed by an hour due to late departure from Singapore. Enjoyed the service on SilkAir. A deviation from the usual budget flights cause SIlkAir had a good offer doe the low season period. Pst John Phongshah was at the airport as usual to pick us up. There are 11 students in their new batch. I spoke on the challenges to serving God and encouraged the student body to trust God as He will see them though the lives serving God. It was a blessed time.

God's faithfulness

This month in PEC we are focusing on the faithfulness of God, gearing up to Church day on 20 Aug. It will be a time again to recount the blessings of the Lord and His goodness to our church.  This morning I shared from  Lamentations 3:22-24 - Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness.  “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!” From the passage I drew four important principles: Because of His faithfulness God is merciful Because of His faithfulness God is compassionate Because of His faithfulness, God’s mercy and compassion are sufficient for the day   Because of His faithfulness, God can be trusted God’s mercy annuls our eternal condemnation; God’s compassion ensures our continuing sanctification; God’s faithfulness compels our total devotion to His divine intuition

God is in control

It was an exciting day today. I was scheduled to depart at 7PM tonight. My host had planned that we will have a good lunch and then later in the afternoon I will have sometime for shopping before I head for the airport. All was well planned. I woke up lazily this morning. Went for a morning walk in the streets of Makarti. But it was cut short because of the heavy drizzle. After a light breakfast, I was resting and updating the status on my blog. Around 11AM, something, I believe it was the Holy Spirit, told me to go and check-in my flight on line. To my horror I discovered that my flight has been brought forward and the departure was at 3PM.  Immediately I called Pst Ding and Carlo. Both were also shocked and when they verified, it was true. The flight has been brought forward due to operational reasons. Thank God we still had time but it meant that we had to head to the airport straight away because of the unpredictable traffic situation in Manila. Believe me - the traffic in

Another meeting at Pst Fayte's church

Image
I was at  Lifeigver Manila Center, 2/F Ever Gotesco Manila Plaza Mall, Recto Ave., Manila,   Tuesday evening. It was mainly for church leaders and volunteers who are serving in the church. About 200 young people turned up the service. Most of them came straight after school or work. It was so heart warming to see the hunger for God in these young people. The worship was vibrant and people were just weeping and hungry for God's touch.  Amazed  by some of the testimonies. One young man said that he was inspired by my message in 2014 that prompted him to missions. He  eventually went as a missionary to Qatar. Praise be to God. Pst Faythe said that she started this new work after a prophetic word released on her in 2014 when I was praying for her. She said your prophecy had come to pass. Praise be to God. Many of the young people came after the service to say how much they have been blessed. Some said they are experiencing a revival and the Word was just perfect for
