HI Singapore Alumni Association's Promo Seminar

Image
Today we had the 1st promotion seminar for the HI program after HI stopped conducting seminars in Singapore. A group of recent alumni felt that we should start one. After months of meeting and planning, today we saw the result. We had 15 participants and 8 others from the alumni. I spoke on the HI vision and for the session session gave an overview of Biblical Mandate. Sis Jesse spoke on Communications and Pst Sam Yeo from Penang gave an overview on Pluralism From my observation the seminar was well organised and well received. Looking forward to organizing the 1st National Seminar in Singapore.

True colours

Trials and temptations are filters that allow our true colours to shine through. May they be ones that reflect His glory. Mat 5:16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Early morning prayer

Image
About 17 members gathered at 5AM to pray. I am happy with the umber who turned up. If PEC has been standing all these years, its because of the faithful prayer of a few. I know this is important. So we have gathered again in the early hours to seek the Lord and to pray and intercede for our church. Praise God for our leaders and their spouses who came with a heart to pray. Not forgetting the challengers who also showed up as always.  Next task is how to motivate the young adults and the youths to come for this prayer.

God's General

It was  with sadness that I heard of the passing of Nabeel Qureshi. He passed away on 16 Sep after a year long battle with stomach cancer. He leaves behind a wife and a two year old daughter. Sure, there will be the many questions why?? No answer will be satisfactory. I asked the same when my brother and his wife were taken away at an early age, when they were at the climax of their ministry. I guess we will find out when we cross to the other shore.  There were so much of reflection on the life of this young man. Only 34 years old but he has accomplished so much in his short life time. Brilliant apologist and a true warrior for the Lord, won thousands from the Muslim faith to the Lord. What an achievement, what a warrior. This is what Ravi Zacharias said of him in his blog: "Qureshi was not just an evangelical; he was passionately evangelistic. He desired to cover the globe with the good news that God’s forgiveness was available to all. I have seldom seen a m

Daily living - In very thing, give thanks

Philippines 4: 4-7 -  Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!   Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.   Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Paul gives us some simple  guidelines  for daily living. It ha all to  do with  our attitude. Sure we cannot change the things that happen around us, but we can  certainly  control what happens within us and how we respond to the various situation.  Attitude towards God Rejoice in the Lord always .   Paul tells us to rejoice in  every situation. This does not mean that when something bad happens, we must throw a party. But it does mean that we are not overcome   with excessive grief to the point we doubt God. It does mean that we know and rejoice in the fact that "all things

A trail of rejection leads to a highway of exaltation

If you Christian journey takes you through a trail of rejection, dejection and despising because of your faith, be assured that a highway of exaltation, exultation and endorsement awaits you over the horizon. Isaiah 53:3 -  He was despised and rejected by mankind,  a man of suffering,  and familiar with pain.  Like one from whom people hide  their faces  he was despised,  and we held him in low esteem. Phi 2:8-11  -  And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross. 9  Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name,  10  that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  11  and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Meeting friends in Bangalore and return to Singapore

It was really a joy meeting our friends.  We had  a long conversation with Canute and  Suramya,   true friends who  share  the same  mindset  and vision.  Reminisced our journey and spoke of God's greatness and faithfulness in our lives. Nothing better than being in Christ. Praise God that Bro Mohan is on the way to recovery. We waned to give him a  surprise  visit but  unfortunately   Bishop Nehemiah let the cat out of the bag.  He shared with us know God was so gracious in his life and helped him through this difficult part of his life. Is was so good just to be around these people. Truly gems. We also had the opportunity to meet with Suramya's parents in Sunday before we left  Bangalore .  What a reunion, seeing them after 6 years. They are n their mid seventies but still very much engaged in the work of he Lord. We were blessed just by being with them for the short time. With Hanns in church in Banglore We were also pleasantly surprised to meet H

Departure from Jaigaon

Today we are leaving Jalgaon for Banglore.  We want to visit one of supporters, Bro Mohan who recently had a mild heart attack.  Bro Mohan and his family are gems. They are passionate about God and  been supporting our mission work financially also have opened their house for us to stay during our mission trips. Such people are are really hard to find these days. We also want to catch up with Bro Canute  and his wife Suramya. These are the remnant who love God sincerely, not just with words but with their lives. True friends indeed  We left our hotel at 6:45 am and we reached our hotel in Banglore at 9:30 pm, after two flights, via Kolkata, transits and long drives on the roads. It was raining heavily in Bangalore snd the roads were flooded. Took us 2 hrs 40 minutes to reach our hotel from the airport.  The traffic in Banglore is a nightmare. I was told sometime kt takes 3 hrs just to clear 4 km. I saw in the papers that there were more than 7 million cars in Bangalore, not fo

Visiting CPs in Assam

It was a busy day indeed. We departed our hotel at 7am. First stop was at Bible School that was run by Bro Santiyandra, who is an Haggai alumni. He was a participant in 2011 in Maui where I facilitated Bibilical Mandate. Bro Sathiyandra is very much involed in missions and churhc planting and he invited me to breakfast and also speak to the Bible School students. I was thrilled to see the work of Haggai alumni, of which I had a little part to play. All praise and glory to God.  PEC English School We arrived at Pst Soban's church at about 11 am. I was specially delighted to the PEC English medium school started by Pst Soban. With this initiative, we are planning to start a tution centre where about 100 kids will benefit from the program. The weather was warm and humid and I was soaked in my own perspiration. With Pst Soban and family It was really heartwarming to see the work of Pst Soban and his wife in this remote village amongst the B

CPs graduation In Jaijaon near the Bhutan Birder

Image
Today we had the combined graduation of both the Jaijaon and Assam trainjng centres. This will be the 11th graduation in Jaijaon. The ceremony was simple but dignifed with more thsn 100 people attending the celebration. 18 students graduated today. To God be the glory.

Arrived Jaijaon

We bid our hosts in Patna farewell and departed early for the  airport. Bro Albert and Sis Josephine  headed for Delhi. They will be proceeding to Agra to teach the CPs there. Jeya ad I headed for Bagdogra via Kolkatta. We arrived Bagdogra at about 2:30pm. Bishop Samuel was there to receive us as usual. The seemed to be less traffic in the roads. The Bishop informed that it was probably due to the agitation in  Darjeeling. By he time we reached Jaigaon it was about 8pm. This time we stayed in a different hotel, not Kasturi. Thus is called Hotel kloud,  a new outfit with cheaper rates. It was ok but we had to climb 4 stories to our rooms as there elevator was not ready.  Otherwise no complains.

Kolkata and Patna

Before departure at Changi airport We arrived Kolkatta an hour late. Checked into a nearby hotel for the night. Very few people speak English here and so if you want to take a cab, make sure you have some knowledge of Hindi, otherwise you will be taken for a ride, like we were. But no worries, the dsmage will negligible.  Arrival at Patna We arrived Patna on 4th Sep morning. Pst Raji was at the airport to meet us. Patna was warm and humid. But the love and warmth shown by Pst Raji's famil was more than overwhelming. Very impressed to see the work done by Pst Raji, especially the way he runs the CP Training Centre. Very systematic and organised. Later in the evening evening we had the graduation of the 1st batch of the students trained in Bihar. In the beginning there were about 22 students but many fell out along the way and finally only 8 graduated.  In my addrees to the people who had gathered, about fifty of them, I reminisced  my journey to Bihar. I came

Bihar and NE India

Jeya and I head for the fields again. This time to Bihar and NE India. We will be joined by Albert and Josephine, our faithful partners in missions. Great missionaries and faithful stewards. All of us will head for Bihar where we will witness the graduation of the 1st CP training program in Bihar. Thereafer Jeya and I will head for NE India whilst Albert and Josephine will go to Agra to teach the CP students there.  We will RV back in Kolkata on 10 Sep before we head back home. Jaya and I are also planning a surprise trip to Bangalore.  Looking forward. To God be the glory.

Great outing today

Probably the first sunrise service in more than 20 years. We decided to have the first of the month morning prayer at the Sembawang Park at 6:00AM. Because of transportation problems we were quite doubtful if people will come to the park so early.  "But ye of little faith..." About 70 turned up for the prayer. God really embarrassed us. Some already told us they will not be able  to make it. Some even had negative comments.....but, "Be  still" Sis Christina led the worship and Bro Babu James' brother David from Delhi, shared the Promise verse. It was taken from Isaiah 40:30-31 - " Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up.  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." He said that in  order  to fly high like an  eagle we need the following five Ws: Will -
