Supplication

In the extended time of prayer I was asked to take the subject on Supplication. The objective was to pray and bring our petition before the Lord. I asked the people if they can recall of any prayer Jesus made for Himself. And rightly, almost all said that in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked if the cup can be removed. They were right. But actually Jesus was not even praying for Himself as if he needed something. His concerns the relations with the Father that will be lost when He was on the cross. But my point was only 1% of Jesus prayer was for Himself. They rest were for the disciples, the world and us. Jesus hardly prayed for Himself. Most of on the other-hand do not take prayer seriously and even if we do, they are all for "me, my and mine". True supplication and intercession is mostly centered for the others. The Bible exhorts us: Phi 2:3-4 - Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more importa

A woman after God's heart

The journey was not easy, rigged with challenges but you made it pleasant.. It's Jeya's birthday. Thanking God for her life and for the heart she has for the lost. As a friend of mind put it, "  Dear Rama, Jeya is your lover, your companion, your best friend, your wife, your fellow sojourner in life and the mother of your children. You are so blessed!".  Can't agree more

The Passover

Image
Today being Good Friday, we looked at the Passover and heart it meaning and implication. It was a quite a different kind of service as we saw how the Jews celebrated the Passover and what we as Christians can learn fro it. The church was packed and we were blessed indeed.

Ministry in Jaigaon

Image
With students at PEC School of Ministry The last two days were spent teaching the students in PEC School of Ministry. There are 17 students, mostly from the NE Indian regions. Jeya taught them on the Wilderness Experience and George on Leadership and Discipleship.  P EC Jaijaon We also visited a new PEC church started in Jaigaon. This was their regular prayer meeting. About 25 people gathered for the service. It was so exciting to see this new PEC church gathering in a house. Bishop Samuel is looking after this work. I am told that on Sunday morning the place is filled and people will be sitting outside the house. To God be the glory.  On the second day we had a short program for kids living in the vicinity of the training school. This is a new project Bishop Samuel Sharma has launched. The aim is to reach the children by providing them with tuition. We had about 20 children. Jeya taught them a new song and also told them a story. There is a good potential to rea

Trip to Assam

Image
We had a long day today. It was a field trip to Assam.  We left Jaigaon at about 7 am. The first stop was at a village called Bamonijhora and it was for a church dedication.  Before the church dedication we had a baptism service for two new converts. It was a long walk through a field which was littered with dung from animals and humans.  And the light rain made the terrain wet and slippery. The water in the pond was dark and the ground felt like “quick mud”. Two people took water baptism that day. More than 100 people turned up for the church dedication. Pst Alphine is our church planter here and majority of the people speak a language called Santil.  This is PEC’s 127th church building. Its only he Lord’s doing. After the church dedication we went to visit PEC Rimona which was an hour’s drive away. We had a simple service there and Bro George shared the Word. It was good  to see the people who turned up in spite of the election season and it was also a wor

Church Dedication

This Sunday morning we went to Lingdon which was about 2 hrs drive from Singtam. As we stood outside the church we can see all the surrounding mountains and valleys. It was simply a picturesque sight.  This church was planted by our church planter Pst Amur. About 35 people gathered for the church dedication. This church was sponsored by my close friends Nick and Steven Tan and our mission partners Albert and Josephine. I asked Pst Renchin, from PEC Packium, to share the Word and he shared from 2 Corinthians 5:17.   It was indeed a joyous occasion to dedicate PEC’s 126 church in the mission field.  Our vision is that a church should be planted in every mountain in Sikkim.  After a sumptuous organic lunch, we departed for another meeting in Gangtok.  It was a pleasant drive and the view was scenic. But it started to rain in certain places and the visibility was quite bad. Praise God we reached Gangtok safety. This church was in a unique location. First we had

We arrived Kolkata on  4 Apr for an overnight stop and today departed for Bagdogra. Bishop Samuel Sharma and his son Abishek were there to greet us. From there we made our way to Sikkim. We arrived Sikkim at about 4pm.  In the evening we had the first session for the pastors and leaders. About 50 people gathered for the meeting. The organizers told us that because it was election period in India, many people were not able to come due to  transportation problems. Nevertheless we continued with our program. I spoke on “Is God in your equation”

In HIS Majesty's Service

There is no retreat, no retrenchment, no retirement, no reserve and no regret in HIS Majesty's Service. 2 Tim 4:2 - Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction 2 Tim 4:6-7 - For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Caleb is a good example of the above statement. He was 85 years old when he asked Joshua for Hebron. Many at that age would be waiting for their day of departure, or just trying to keep alive.  Not  Caleb: Joshua 14:12 - Now give me this hill country that the  Lord  promised me that day.  You yourself heard then that the Anakites  were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the  Lord  helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”
