Mission Trip 22-30 May 10

Image
Praise God for His mercy and grace. The trip went on well and we accomplished our objectives. It was very challenging and hectic journey. The weather was extremely hot. First time experiencing the extreme end of the Indian summer with temperatures hitting as high as 53 degrees C in some places. Even in the trains at 10.00pm in the night, the temperature was at 42 degrees C. But we survived. Except for some minor ailments, all seven members were in good health. The team on arrival at Hyderabad Airport. From left first pillar, Rajoo, Evelyn Tan, Steven, Manesh, Mathews, Rama and Jeya. We were received by Bishop Nehemiah. We dedicated a total of five new churches in five different districts in AP. Many of the churches are already full. God is adding many new souls. In some of the dedication services many villagers gave their lives to the Lord. Praise God for the hard work of our church planters. It is bearing good fruits. We thank God for all the sponsors of the new church building

Kakinada coastal Areas hit by Cyclone Laila

Pst Ratnababu , our Kakinada coordinator, reported that two of our church planters' work along the coastal area were affected by the cyclone. Our two CPs , Pst Jaipaul and Pst Prakasam had pioneered work in the fishing villages along the eastern coast of Kakinada facing the bay of Bengal. Last night the sea water floods destroyed homes, church structures and four lives were lost. Many of the members have lost their possessions in the floods. Please pray that our CPs , young men who had just started out in the ministry, will not be shaken but will ride over the storm and trust God for for peace in this time of calamity. I am trying to raise some funds to help the victims of this cyclone. I have asked Bishop Nehemiah to give them as much assistance as possible. In the meantime pray, especially for those who have lost their loved ones.

PEC Nakrekal outgrows its building

This church was one of the first churches we dedicated in Feb 2006. It was in the early stages of our involvement in Andhra Pradesh. I remembered dedicating the church. At that time there were about 80 members. In spite of many limitations, Pastor Hannock and his wife worked very hard in that area and the surrounding villages. This week our Bishop Nehemiah visited the church. The church now has a gathering of more than 300 people. The church building cannot contain so many people and hence the meetings are being held outside the church. Pastor Hannock has also established over 7 outreach works in the surrounding areas. Such reports bring great joy to my heart. What we have invested in the field are bringing forth fruits. We thank God for such dedicated people who work extremely hard in difficult conditions. All Glory to God. Lets pray that God will provide for a bigger place for worship and the work will further expand for God's glory. Bishop Nehemiah preaching during the night se

Sis Kolka called Home

Image
It was with deep sadness that we learned yesterday from Tepa that Sis Kolka was called home to Glory on 2 May 10. She was 98 years of age. The world has indeed lost a great saint and a missionary to the East. She was one of the last remaining missionaries associated with Praise Evangelical Church, Singapore. Sis Kolka was one of the missionaries together with Sis Rasi, who pioneered the work in Sembawang, Singapore. She came to Singapore in the late 1950s, one of the first few missionaries to come to Singapore from Finland. While Sis Rasi concentrated on the Indian community, Sis Kolka focused her attention on the Chinese community in Sembawang. Even though she was a Finnish, she learned to read and speak the Chinese dialects and was even able to preach on Chinese. Both she and Sis Rasi would walk the dusty streets in Sembawang and Naval Base reaching out the Chinese and Indian communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I remember her as a soft spoken and gentle lady, always ready to

Orissa Pastors at PEC Ecclesia Training Center

Image
As mentioned earlier, 12 pastors from Orissa are undergoing a refresher course at the center and are due to finish their training by 15th May 10. On 25th Apr, Bro John Prince and his wife Sis Vansanthi from our church in Singapore visited the center and took some sessions with the participants. Bro John reported that the participants were hungry for the Word and very committed. Rev John Signey, the Principal of the center said that they were really blessed with the visit by Bro and Sis John Prince. The students were blessed and challenged by the teaching expounded by Bro John.Prince. We are indeed grateful to Bro and Sis John Prince for taking the time and travelling the long journey to visit and encourage the much neglected pastors from Orissa. They are a great couple with a great zeal for God. May God honour them for their service. By God's grace we are looking to support these pastors from Orissa. Many of them work independently without any support of spiritual cover. As you kno

The price of Surrender

Bill Bright founded Campus Crusade for Christ . Through the worldwide Crusade staff, his tract The Four Spiritual Laws , and the JESUS film (seen by over one billion people), it's estimated that over 150 million people have come to Christ and will spend eternity in heaven. Bill was once asked, "Why did God use and bless your life so much?" He said, "When I was a young man I made a contract with God. I literally wrote it out and signed my name at the bottom. It said 'From this day forward, I am a slave of Jesus Christ.'" Have you signed a contract like that with God? Or, are you still arguing and struggling with God over his right to do with your life as he pleases? It is time to surrender - to God's grace, love, and wisdom. Nehemiah - Part 5a

Nehemiah 1:5-10 The man God uses is one who is conscientious and concerned . Nehemiah's concern led him to the next stage, compassion . Compassion then led to a conviction . The conviction is really a vision of something that God wants him to accomplish. How does one develop that conviction which results in a vision. You and I must remember that it is the Spirit of God that brings the conviction in our hearts, which in turn mushrooms into a God given vision. The spirit of God convicts a compassionate man by drawing a clear understanding of the following as shown in the prayer of Nehemiah: 1. A clear understanding of who God is . verse 5: O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands. The root of any vision stems from a clear knowledge of who God is. He is an awesome God. He is a great God. He keeps His covenants. A God who is Holy and who will not compromise his values. Nehemiah probably draw his
