"My times are in Your hands".. Psalms 31:15 (Another look)

It's always reality check when a crisis come close to you or your loved ones. The serenity is usually not disturbed much  if “someone else” is in the storm, But when you or your loved ones come close to one, or are already in one, then the emotional thermostat readings fluctuate according to one’s trust and commitment in God.  It's in times like this when faith and trust in God is often challenged and questioned.     Although having been a Christian for many years and having held many leadership positions in the Christian circle, I must admit that I too had my moments where faith was tested to its core. Covid19 was one such example.   When the pandemic first reared its ugly head in the end of last year, I was not too disturbed as I thought “this too will pass away”. But when people began to die in large numbers and the number of infected began to increase exponentially, I was worried. When the economies in the world began to tremble, when the circuit breaker measures began to t

Sowing the seed

These few weeks, I have been attending a course (work related). All the participants in the class were new to me and so were some of the faculty. But I took the opportunity to give almost everyone a copy of my book, "Here AM I". There were many people of different  world views represented in the class. It may be offensive to give a tract in Singapore but who can refuse a book,  especially  one written by a  colleague  from the same  organisation .  The comments I  received  so far have been encouraging. The  Christians in the group found it an inspiration and a staunch Hindu in the class said, It is an eye-opener". I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in the lives of these recipients and they too will experience the truth.  Seize every opportunity to share the gospel.

Sunday at HighPointe Life

This Sunday I had the privilege of sharing the Word at High Pointe Church in Klang, Malaysia. Of course, it was a recorded message. I spoke on Resilience, taking the passage from 2 Kings 4:1-7.    I specially looked at the faith that brought the miracle for this widow and her two sons.   We too need to come to God in faith:   1.      Faith needs to take action 2.      Heart needs to be empty for God to fill 3.      Faith is cultivated in the quietness of the closet 4.      God can do more than what you and I can imagine, only our lack of faith stands in the way. 5.      Faith will always change the situation, even if it don’t see the result now.   Then we can rise up with resilience like this widow, settle all the debts and walk again with dignity and God’s name glorified. The same miracle that God did for the widow, God can do it for you.

Unity in the church - Part 2 - Cultivation of Unity

This morning I continued on the subject of Unity in the church and looked at the “Cultivation of Unity”.  Philippians 2:2  -  then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. I suggested that before there can be any acts of unity, there needs to be a transformation in the mind, heart and soul.   We can be very good in our outward behavior and comportment. I have seen such people who will be so loving with their words, in their posture and all the Praise the Lord and Hallelujahs but inwards there is no change.   Because if there is no internal transformation, any act of unity will be what Jesus called “a whitewashed sepulcher”.    It will just be human exhibitionism without any spiritual merit.    I call this internal transformation as the right  Attitudes or Postures of the body of Christ .   Paul outlines  3 attitudes  that church must possess:   1.      Be Like-minded in love – Have the same love      The attitude of  Forgiven

Unity through Diversity - Part 1 (The motivations for Unity)

For the month of October and November we are looking at the subject of Unity in the church. This Sunday I shared on the motivations for unity and the text was taken from:   Philippians 2:1 -  Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,    then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.     Due to the rigidity of translation, I also suggested that the proper way of reading the texted should be:   “Therefore because there is encouragement in Christ, because there is consolation of love, because there is fellowship with the Spirit, because there is affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind.”  So these are the motives. The motives are, “Because” – simply stated – “of what the Lord has done for us.” So in verse 1 Paus give 4 motivations that are more than sufficient for the un

It was my joy to facilitate BME for the Visual Haggai Seminar for the Western Chapter on 9-10 Oct.  This is my first time doing it for the Middle East and I was really blessed in facilitating the subject. There were 18 participants.  I am thankful to the Lord for opening new doors and opportunities and for all the wonderful people who are passionate about ending gospel poverty. Thank you Jesus

My help comes from the Lord

Everyone needs help, from a pauper to a billionaire. But whether we get help or not, depends entirely on the source you are waiting on. My father used to say, “Don’t ask help to someone who doesn't have capability to do so. People can only give from what they have”. I believe that’s true. The ambit of the help needed can be anything. Only those who have the capacity and ability can sustain the need.    As humans there are a number of things beyond our control. There can be genuine needs and we don't have the resources ourselves. In situations like this, who do we turn to for help.   In this Psalm, David compares to those who run to the mountains for help. The mountains represent strength, security and protection. In time when the enemies are after him, he has run to the hills for security and protection. But his experiences in life have taught him that even the hills are no good for certain difficult situations. He has realized it's the Lord who created the heavens and the
