Ministered at Messiah Prayer Hall in Chennai

Image
We left at 5:30 this morning from Veerapandi village an arrived Chennai by 8AM. There was no traffic on the rad as it was elections day.  Today I had the  privilege  to minister at Messiah Prayer  Hall which is about 5km from Chennai International Airport. I was invited by Pst David Matthew, who I met in the HLE in Port Dickson in Jun 2023.  A young man with great passion and fire for the Lord. He is bi-vocational and takes God's work seriously. Divid also helps in our CP training program by facilitating a subject.  Pst David's father Senior Pastor Matthew, planted this church and this church has a congregation of about 600 members. It was joy meeting his parents who had served the Lord for many years.  Even though it was a voting day for Tamil Nadu, about 100 people gathered for the fasting and prayer meeting in the church.  Pst David's vision is for his church to get involved in mission work in Tamil Nadu and he asked if I can share on Missions. I spoke on Paul's enco

Sunrise at Pondicherry

Image
This morning I was asked to be ready by 4AM. Bishop Thomas drove me to Pondicherry ( almost two hours drive), not for a preaching assignment, but to relax at the beach and view the sunrise over the Bay of Bengal.  I was quite reluctant to go because of the back pain I had been nursing for the last few days. But I was glad that I made the trip. The pathway along beach was crowded with many joggers and those on their daily walk and exercise, but for me it was an opportunity to behold the masterpiece of God's creation. The sunrises never fail to amaze me of God's exquisite workmanship.  P salms 19:1 -  The heavens proclaim the glory of God.  The skies display his craftsmanship. I think the Lord provided me an opportunity to rest, relax,  rejuvenate and reflect on this trip. The last five weeks have been terribly busy. I was in five differnt churches over the last five weekends. In addition to my own office work and the shifting of my mother's house. It took a toll and I desper

Trip to Tamil Nadu

Image
I arrived Chennai on 15 Apr, at 0900 hrs local time, much earlier than the scheduled time of 0945 hrs. My immigrations and custom checks were a breeze. Much less visitors at the terminal and I cleared all in 30 mins from touch down. This is the fastest time, I think, I have ever achieved in India. Thanks to all who prayed for me. Bishop Thomas Jaya was at the arrival to pick me up. We arrived the training centre in the evening. It was good to meet Sis Kala and the two teenage children.  On 16-17 Apr, I conducted the course the Great Commission. There were 32 participants in the class. They were very engaging very eager to learn. The discussions were lively and I enjoyed teaching them. Many of the students shared how they have been blessed by the training they are receiving at this centre, equipping them to become church planters.  I had good discussion with Bishop Thomas on how we can reach more villages with the gospel and do what is necessary to end gospel poverty. Sis Kala is a grea

Fare-thee-well my friend, Rev James Ng - A tribute

Image
I t was with deep sadness that we bade farewell to another of God's General, Rev James Ng. But we don't grieve like the rest of the world because of the hope we have in Christ Jesus. We will meet him soon at the Master's feet. To me , he was more than a friend. A true brother in Christ. He was one of the pillars of our Missions work in Asia. A true missionary, teacher, philantrophist and servant with a devoted passion for His Master.  I met James in 2010, when he attended the Haggai Area Seminar, held in RELC. He was introduced to me by our dear friend, Sis Doreen Lim and her husband Dr Lim. Thereafter we became good friends and he became acquainted with our mission work. He was a regular on many of those trips. He preached and taught the Word to many church planters and congregations. It was not easy for him, with all his medical conditions. There were times when we had to travel long hours on the road, up the mountains, down the valleys, cross rivers, and stay in uncomfor

"My Grace is sufficient...."

It had been a hectic four weeks. The fault is purely mine and I am not justifying myself. I had overloaded myself with too many appointments that I had hardly time "to breathe". Two overseas travels, four speaking engagements in other churches, the 7 Churches in Asia Conference and teaching sessions for Pakistan CPs almost everyday in the week.  That's not all I was also shifting my mom from her home in Sembawang to her new house in Woodlands. That involved a lot of physical and administrate coordination.  And I was also working in the office (mostly night shifts). Not forgetting the many coordinations with my overseas coordinators, preparing for sermons and....the list goes on. And just a few days, A very close missions partner of ours, Rev James Ng, passed on and went into eternal home. Sometimes, you just want to do as much as you can, reach more people you can and see the kingdom of God expand. I lost out on my regular exercises, hardly had any time for rest and i t b

7 churches of Asia Conference in Singapore

Image
Yesterday and today, I had the privilege of speaking at the 7 Churches of Asia Conference, organised by Jesus Reigns Church in Jalan Prmimpin, Singapore. About 30  delegates from India, Malaysia and Bangladesh and Singapore attend the Conference. The Senior Pastor of this church Rev Sam Rasoo, is an old  friend and former member of PEC. God has led him and his wife to start a new work in Singapore many years ago and he has a network of pastors in the region, all fulfilling the Great Commission. It was a joy to meet with these pastors, some of them are young in the ministry.  Guest speakers included Bishop Ezra from Medan and Bishop John from Uganda.  I was blessed sharing the Word with them and am grateful for the opportunity given to me. God is good.

Weekend at HighPointe Life, Klang

Image
This weekend, Jeya and I were at HighPointe Life, Klang. But  because  it was Good Friday weekend, the air fares were so  exorbitant, that we decided to drive up. We left early Saturday morning and the journey was quite smooth.  It was good to meet Pst Stephen Mohan and his wife Flora. Over the years we have become like family, sharing about personal issues with family and ministry.  For the Easter celebration, HPL decided to have evangelistic meetings to reach the community. On Saturday, they screened the movie, "Case for Christ" . It was good to meet my old friends. We have som much in common as far as the ministry is concerned.  Sunday morning I shared the Word with an evangelistic message on the Resurrection.  HPL is doing very well in missions and I am glad to have played a small part in it. We left Klang at about 4:30 PM on Sunday. Strangely there was no jam at the causeway but we were at crawling speed from about 100 km from JB. Reached home at about 10:30PM.  Thank yo

"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.“   ‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ The Thursday before Good Friday is known as Maundy Thursday. T he meaning of the word maundy, which comes from the Latin mandatum, is “command.” The command being the new one that Jesus gave to His friends on the night before He died: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34) On that night Jesus celebrated the passover feast with His disciples. This passover was special as it foreshadowed what He will do on the cross for the sins of mankind, fulfilling the prophecies told in the Old Testament, beginning with Genesis 3:15. Many lessons can be drawn from this particular event, but for now I would like to consider the meaning behind Jesus washing the feet of His disciples that night. In those days, walking on the roads of Palestine made it necessary that feet be washed before a communal meal. The task is usually done

The abundant life

John 10:10 - The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have  it  more abundantly. Fulness of life  The   abundant life does not necessarily consist of an abundance of material things.   You would have noticed that Jesus, except for one or two places,     hardly spoke about material blessings. But He did speak much about suffering, carrying the cross and seeking the Kingdom of God. In fact the  beatitudes, the principles that govern the kingdom of God are paradoxical and out of this world. So to equate fulness of life to physical blessing may be a misnomer.   There is always the tendency to compare the Old Covenant of the Law with the  New   Covenant  of Grace. There are several  overlaps but there are also clear distinctions. It takes a careful diligent student of the Word to know the distinction. A failure to do so will result in distortion of the scriptures and wrongly diving the Word.   Fulness of li

Weekend at Berastagi

Image
Writing this post from the waiting area at Kuala Lumpur International airport, Terminal 1. My flight to Singapore departs in an hour. Praise  God for a wonderful time in Berastagi. Together with partners from HPL, Klang and GNF, Kuching, we had the  privilege  to  minister  and more  importantly  learn many  lesson  from Bishop Ezra and his growing church, Elim Kiros. The main objective for this visit was to develop a "Training Centre" for potential  CPs in Indonesia. As usual, Bishop Ezra and his wife Pst Janice, were excellent hosts. They looked after us as their own family. We are indeed grateful. I think all of us in the team, especially Gaddiel, put on a few extra kg.😟 We arrived on 22 Mar, Friday and for a change visited Lake Toba in the afternoon. The last time I visited Lake Toba was probably 40 years ago. It was a pleasant experience to marvel at God's creation and to enjoy the fellowship of like-minded sanits. I am sure you would have guessed what our conversat

Sunday morning at Singapore Charismatic Church

Image
It was another privilege to share theWord at this church in Geylang. This is a mission minded church and Pst Png is an ardent support of evangelism and missions.  The theme for this church this year is "Do all for the glory of God". There is nothing like receiving a sermon by waiting in the presence of God. When the message comes from God's heart to us, it touches others. That's what I have learnt all these years This morning I shared on  Mathew 5:14-16 -  “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  15  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  16  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. We are called to shine our light to this world. How can we do this? I shared on the four points: Shine Love in a world of Hate. Shine Character in a world of Deceit. Shine Excel

Philippians 1:1 - Part 4 - Perspective

Image
Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:“  Philippians 1:1 NIV In the  previous three devotions, I looked at the following thoughts in the first sentence in verse 1: Paul and Timothy -  The Posture Servants -  The Position Servants of Christ Jesus -  The Privilege. I am still not able to take my mind off verse one. There is one more thought that strikes me as important. God's holy people - The Perspective or rather God's Perspective God sees us as holy in Christ. The city of Philippi was entrenched in various form of idol worship and deep in syncretism. Emperor worship ws in the forefront as many Romans occupied this city. In Acts 16 , we read about how Paul delivered a demon possessed girl. The worship of the goddess Diana was also prevalent in this city. And of course immorality also prevailed. Most of the believers in the Philippi church came from these sinful, evil practices.

Wonderful time in Atlanta 26 Feb- 3 Mar

Image
It was truly a blessed time we spent in Atlanta. We were there for the Haggai Gala 2024, an event to celebrate God's faithfulness and to thank the sponsors who have blessed the Haggai  International   ministry. We met many like minded people whose passion is to end gospel poverty in its various forms around the world.  It was like heaven on earth. Although the weather was cold, we were kept warm by the love and friendship of the people we met. As I talked with the people, I was overwhelmed by their passion and sacrifice for the kingdom. Most importantly I was able to see their servant heart in leadership, something very lacking in many christian circles. From the moment we arrived at the airport, till we returned, we we very well taken care off. Unbelievable Haggai hospitality.  Jeya and I had the privilege of sharing our experiences to two large groups of Haggai staff and sponsors. The first group of sponsors have made a will to give their legacy to Haggai ministry. These are comm
