Mission Trip to AP, India 18-25 Jan 10

Image
I returned home yesterday, tired but satisfied. It was amazing to see how the church planting work is growing in the villages. Indeed God is using PEC to establish many new cells, churches in the villages in AP. Together with Pst Nehemiah, our AP coordinator, we covered many events for God's glory. Some of the key events of the visit are as follows: We met all our pastors and key leaders on 19 Jan in Rasoolpura for a time of briefing and vision casting for 2010. It was good to see our workers on fore for God. Travelled by night train to Vizag and on 20 Jan participated in a RAE Team Leader's chrch meeting. Many people attended the meeting. Pst Joshua has shown the Jesus film in many of the villages in Vizag district. On 21 Jan conducted a one day Evangelism and Leadership Seminar in Araku Valley, near the Orissa Border for 50 tribal pastors from the Valley and Orrissa. It was heart breaking to hear the stories of persecution by the Orissa pastors. Many pastors testified how the

Destined for Greater Things - Part 2

In Luke 5:1-11, we read about one of Jesus’ first contact with Simon. Simon was just an ordinary fisherman. His whole life was just centered around his boat. Imagine Sunday to Friday his schedule would have been as follows: Fishing in the night , washing his nets and selling the fishes in the morning and sleeping in the noon. Probably on Sabbath, he being a Jew, would have attended morning service and if he had television at home, he would have spent the evenings watching the latest news. How every similar to the lives of many church goers today. Yet when Jesus came into Simon's boat, into Simon's life he turned his life upside down: Peter’s life: From the ordinary to the extraordinary From a fisherman to fishers of men From a fisherman to a ruler From a nobody to a man who turned the world upside down He was destined for the throne. Y ou and I are destined for the throne 1 Peter 2:9-19: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God,

Another joint project by PEC and Pastors in Bhutan has taken off. 20 participants from the Himalayan region are attending the Leadership and Evangelism Seminar at the border of Bhutan. The course started on 7 Jan 10 and expected to end on 21 Feb 10. Pst Samuel Sharma, an HI Alumni, is running this program together with some Pastors from Bhutan. The purpose of this seminar is to realise the importance of the Great commission and to challenge the participants that evangelism is a personal responsibility. Part of the cost for running those seminar was sponsored by a friend in Spore, KC Wong. Praise God for people who are willing to invest into the lives of others.

Destined for Greater Things - Part 1

This morning, I spoke in church on the topic, Destined for Greater Things". The text was taken from Luke 1:1-11 . One of the amazing work of the gospel is its effect it has on the lives of its recipients. 1. It transforms the life of a believer. 2 Cor 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2. It transposes the believer from what he was ,to what he should be . J er 29:11 - I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Gen 12:2 - I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3. It translates him from being useless to being powerfully useful . 1 Cor 1:26-31 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of

TRIBUTE TO MY DAD

Image
IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE LATE ROBERT PERIASAMY MY FATHER JAN 1930 - 17 DEC 2009 Today we had the Memorial Service for my father. My brother Kumar led the worship. A few friends testified about Dad's past and how God changed his life. Our children, Jessica, Reena and Jonathan sang the song, Blessed Assurance, one of my dad's favourite hymn and dedicated the song to his memory. Pastor Steven shared the Word. The service ended with a powerpoint presentation, prepared by my brother, of some memories of our Dad. I shared the following tribute in memory of my Dad. Friends, brothers and sisters and family members, Thank you for taking time to come for this memorial service in remembrance of our Father. We are sincerely appreciative of your care, concern and love which you showered upon us during our recent bereavement. As I said on the Sunday after my father’s death, that we sorrow not as people without hope but as one who is assured that we will see our Dad face to face in the presenc

2010 - Launching into the deep

Image
While meditating on the Word and asking God for directions for the year 2010, the Spirit pointed me to Luke 5: 4 - When He has finished speaking, He said to Simon, " Put into the deep water and let down the nets for a catch" (NIV). This year we need to move from the shore-line and go into the deep where the fishes are. We cannot be contended with what we have been doing. Many fishes (souls) need to be rescued from the fires of hell. They are out there but the church, the mission and evangelism teams must rise up and go where the fishes are and not wait for them to come. For that to happen the church needs to: Obey by faith . Unless we are willing to rise up by faith and heed the master's voice, we will not be able to realise the vision God has given to us. Peter said, "Nevertheless at your word I will let down the nets". Unless we are willing to move ahead by faith nothing is going to happen. Effort. Its always safer and easier to stay at the cost-line. Moving
