Command or Request.

1 Tim 1:1 - Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope There's much discourse these days in Christendom as to who an apostle is or whether the office exists today. Not surprisingly many have adorned their names by adding the initials "AS" to include this new title to their designation. Let the scholars debate on the legality of the office but my devotion addresses the question what is mean to be "called by the command of the God". Surprisingly Paul  did not say that it was his desire or passion or he volunteered to serve in the ministry. But rather it was God who commanded him to do so. If it is a command what does it entail? The word command has a host of synonyms to its list. Amongst others it includes, a commission, an order, a mandate, a duty, a demand. A serious responsibility is put on the recipient to fulfill it at any cost. These words are familiar to those in the uniformed groups. Havi

Disunity breeds deformity.

Just as the backbone gives form and shape to a body, so does unity to a church. Any corruption in its nucleus results in distortion and disruption to its function and vision. Furthermore it becomes susceptible to deformity and diabolic harassment. 1 Cor 1:10 - I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Trip to Myamar 10-15 Mar 14

This was Sidd's first trip on a missionary journey and my second. The objectives of the trip were to conduct two Leadership seminars and also find out the prospect of running a short term CP training for potential CPs. Pst John Pongshar, an HI alumni, is our coordinator in Myanmar. Sis Evelyn, from Singapore, assisted in organizing and funding the seminars. We departed on Monday, 10 Mar and were received at the airport by Pst John Pongshar and Sis Evelyn. From the airport went to the bus station for a 17 hr bus ride to Lasio. Fortunately the bus was comfortable. But along the way it broke down about midnight and there was a delay of about an hour.  We arrived at about 9,30AM on 11 Mar, changed our clothes and went straight for the seminar. We conducted the leadership seminar for a group of local pastors and leaders. The training was conducted over two days in Grace AOG, Lasio. But due to lack of time, we were not able to complete the series. The leaders were excited

"In this world you will have tribulations...." - Jesus

John 16:33 - I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Jesus said that we will have tribulations. Whether we like it or not, we will face trials and testing one time or another. It can come in many forms: persecution, sickness, relationships ect. The consoling fact is that Jesus himself went through trials and testing and He overcame them. Heb 4:15 - For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. And because of this "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." With Jesus we can sail through any trial or testing. When we go through trials and testing, a few other things surface: We discover our true deficiencies .    It was in his trials, that Job discovered that  "

Kakinada PEC CP Training Centre

Image
We praise God for this new training center in Kakinada, AP. This center is sponsored by two dedicated and committed Christians from India. My joy is to see the local Indians reaching out to the locals and that is the vision of HI. I am praying that more Indian Christians will spearhead evangelism and training and so fulfil the Great Commission. May God bless these two sponsors and their families. I am thankful to God for Pst Nehemiah, Pst Ratnababu and the rest of the team who are running this center. We thank God for their humility and  passion. Our prayer us that these men will become the Pauls and Peters of their generation. All Glory to God.

Missions - Whose responsibiity?

This morning I met a professional. He is not a pastor or even Bible School trained. But this man was instrumental in planting three churches and a Bible School in Myanmar. He has also helped to built and orphanage there. He visits Myanmar regularly to supervise the work and to encourage the Christians. Most of the work was done with his own resources. I was simply awed, just talking with him and to see his passion and vision for the lost.   One of the things that he shared was there are many Christians who pat his back to say how much they appreciate what he is doing, admire his  humility to live in terrible conditions in Myanmar but only a handful come forward to partner, contribute or go on the trips. And these are the middle-income group Christians in Singapore who have the means and the ability. I can fully endorse what he is saying. What makes a person to go back again and again to the mission field, to give way above the normal giver, stay in unbelievable  conditions and
