Another General returns home

Image
Rev Jacob (in red shirt) with Bishop Nehemiah One of our PEC district coordinators, Rev. Jacob, 45 years, from Manchiryal (Adilabad) Dist, passed away this early in the morning due to high blood pressure. He fell down at home, blood clotted in brain and died in hospital. A faithful and hardworking pastor, he has trained 2 batches church planters for tribal area pastors and given many baptisms. He has a very  pleasant  personality, exhibits such  humility, befitting a godly servant. I have seen him many times at our regular pastors' seminars in Rasoolpura. Our loss is heaven's gain. The funeral shall take place this afternoon. He leaves  behind  a wife, and two children, both are still studying.

Growing work in Chandrapore , Rayagada .

Praise  God for the work done in this particular village in Odisha. Today it's growing and yesterday they had a fasting and prayer meeting. This group needs a church building. We  praise  God for Bishop  Anjan  and his team who work very hard despite of the  pandemic  to share the gospel.

There's a name you can trust

When there is no one to turn to for help, no place to run to hide, no medication to heal your wounds and no one to hold on for comfort, there is a NAME you can trust - JESUS  “The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.” ‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭9:9-10 ‬ ‭NLT‬‬ What caught my attention was the phrase "those who know your name" I was reminded of the verse in Pro 18:10 - The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. God is someone who we can trust and depend on. No matter how bad the situation, God will see us through.  Question is - Do you know the  name  the Lord?. It's more than just mere knowledge. It is a  personal  relationship.  Jesus said in John 14:10 -     “I am the good shepherd;  I know my sheep  and my sheep know me. And again in  John 10:27 -   My sheep listen to my voice; I know them,  and they follow me. Thos

Praise God for new souls

I was delighted to receive an update this morning from Bishop Anjan, PEC Coordinator for Odisha. Praise God. Another 8 new souls were added into the Kingdom of God. This is a remote village in Rayagada. Odisha. Although some sisters in this village were beaten and ostracised for their faith, God is still doing a miracle and adding souls. Persecution prepares the ground for the germination of new souls. To God be the glory.

Back to church after the renovations

Image
We were back in  church building after about six months. The last time we gathered here was on New Year's Eve. Most of the renovations is done and we thank God for seeing us through. The Covid situation and the renovation delayed our gathering together. The renovation in itself was strewn with many challenges and disagreement and we are not off the hook yet. But one things is sure: The God who has seen us through the last 60 years will see us through for there next and no scheme of the devil can prevail against the church of God. God has again proved Himself to be faithful and as I opened the service  I cited  Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the   Lord ’s great love   we are not consumed,  for his compassions never fail.  23  They are new every morning;  great is your faithfulness. We thank God that we were able to get all the necessary approvals form the authorities and what a joy to see our people again. The Covid restrictions limited our numbers and so today we had about 50 wo

Missions - Whose responsibility

Many Christians have the wrong idea about Missions. Some think their role is to win their own or for some, "preparing the church for the soon coming of Christ".  While this may be true, that is not the whole scope of the gospel. The cultural mandate in Genesis 1:28 instructs us to " “Be fruitful and increase in number;  fill the earth  and subdue it." This command was given to all mandkind. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 - " Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...  The imperative is very clear.  It's  because  some people went out of their  countries  that we have the gospel in ours. Missions is not the responsibility of the pastor or a selected few. It's every Christians responsibility. If the nail prints on the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus does not compel us to see beyond our perimeters, nothing else will.  Praise God we who have received Christ have inherited all the blessings that came as a result of the passion of Chris

Ephesians 1:3b

Ephesians 1:3b - "who has blessed us in the heavenly realms  with every spiritual blessing in Christ." In the earlier part of this verse , the apostle blesses the Lord and now he states the reason - every spiritual blessings in  Christ  in the heavenly realms. And from verses 4-14, Paul  describes  what these blessings are in the heavenly  realms. As I searched through the writings of the Apostle Paul, I could hardly find one that spoke of physical blessings. Health, wealth and prosperity, which are the common pronouncement these days from the pulpit and social media, were never the objective or theme of Paul's writing or preaching.  His preaching had everything to do with the cross of Jesus and the spiritual blessings it affords to the repentant sinner.  Acts 16:31 -  Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Acts 26:20 -    I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their s

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ

Ephesians 1:3 - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.   After his brief  introduction, Paul begins his letter by praising God. He declares the relationship between God and the Lord Jesus as a Father-Son relationship, a mystery that John the Apostle unfolds in many places in his book.  John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son John 5:19 -  Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. John 17:13 -   in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. The Trinity is a mystery that scholars are stilled baffled and awed by it, whilst critics dismiss it as "nonsense". One God in three persons and each person

Thank you Lord

It has been an hectic two weeks. I had daily teaching sessions on the Great Commission for 3 hrs every day, two messages to record and work on night shift for my regular job. At the beginning of the two weeks, I was just wondering how I was going to to all this. But praise be to God I was able to keep all the assignments.  Tired but it was all worth the while. Some of the students messaged me separately  how they were blessed and challenged by the teaching on the Great commission. On the last session, some of the participants were in tears, even though this was a zoom session. How the Holy Spirit works!! We just cannot comprehend  His ways.  I am humbled and thankful that the Lord should even consider me for this assignment . Purely His grace and mercy. To God be the glory.

God is still on the throne

"So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deut 31:6 This morning I was reminded that God is still on the throne and he remembers His own. And if your journey is getting unbearable, just remember, God is still in control. He will not abandon you. Remembered this old hymn we used to sing and still so powerful Got any rivers you think are uncrossable? Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through? God specializes in things thought impossible and he will do just what non other can do.

Isaiah 30:15 - Another look

Chapter thirty starts will a warning form the Lord to the children of Israel. he calls them the "obstinate children". What a tragic  description for a nation who were supposedly called the "nation of priests" and a nation that the Lord loved. The reason being Israel had slide back into her wayward ways of sin. What was their sin? Not consulting God Carrying out their own plans and not God's Going back to Egypt from where they were once delivered and making alliance with them. They had disregarded God's commands  and chose their own way of mastery and had backslidden into their old way of life. Very similar to what happened in the Garden of Eden. Sometimes, we too fall into these traps wanting to exert our own ways, dishonouring the laws of God and insisting in our own ways. sadly in some cases, we form alliance with the sins from which we were once delivered.  And this is what the Lord pronounced to Israel as judgement in verses 13-14: this sin will become

Promise verse for Jun 2021 - Isaiah 30:15

Bro Rubern shared on this verse during the 6:30AM communion service which we do in the beginning of the month. A very appropriate verse for the season we are in.  There are times when we need to forcefully defend, like when Jesus had to throw down the trading centers in the temple. But there are time when we need to remain silent (quietness), like when Jesus was silent before His accusers. In times like this, when we don't seem to have answers to all the events around us, when circumstances overwhelm us, when accusations crisscross our paths, when trails are too hard to bear, it's always natural to retaliate, fightback and show our true colours. We probably may gain some ground in doing so, but he flip side is we would have soiled our hands, unintended words would have been revealed, smeared ours and others reputation, and inevitably  brought disrepute to the Name of Jesus. The sad part, after the episode, we justify our actions. I for one am guilty as shared.  But this verse i
