Odisha - Day 2

Image
Today also we visited three churches. It was again long travel in the forest in Rayagada District. No phone connection in these areas. The first stop was at a village called Gutagudi, pastored by our church planter Pst Bhima. More than 150 had gathered for the meeting and they had been waiting for more than 2 hrs for our arrival. I was told that the whole village had come to accept Christ. This was such exhilarating news. In a state where're there is an anti-conversion law, the Lord is saving souls in an unprecedented way. They sang and worshiped from their hearts. They listened carefully to the Word and were in reverence during the time of prayer. I was simply overjoyed. The whole village coming to know the Lord. what a joy. The second meeting was also in an open area, about an hour form the first. This is all in the remote places in the forest. This village is called Nehuruponga. The CP here is Pst Tibidi. He is doing an excellent work in spite of many challengers. What I

Trip to Odisha

Image
I was in Odisha from 26 Feb to 3 Mar . The objective of the trip was to visit our church planters and to see the progress of the work. I arrived Vdshakapattanam on 26 Feb night. Bishop Anjan received me at the airport. By the time I checked into the hotel in Rayagada, Odisha, it was past 2:30AM.  Today we visited three churches in Rayagada. First we came to Bissamcuttack where the Shadrach Home and the PEC Training Centre is located. It was a joy to meet the students. One of the students, recently had a bad accident, when the ceiling fan fell and cut her head. She was warded and treated in the hospital. Thank God she is well now.  It was long travel on narrow roads. Today we went on the journey by motorcycle. I wanted to cut cost of hiring a vehicle. It was a mistake. By the end of the day, my back was hurting badly. I could not even lift my leg. I think we would have covered more than 20 km on dusty, undulating rocky terrain the in interior part of the district. The f

God's heart

Many of us are like the prophet Jonah. We know all about God's missionary heart but we really don't know the depth of His compassion - reaching the lost.  Jonah 4:1-2 - Jonah was furious. He lost his temper. He yelled at God, “God! I knew it—when I was back home, I knew this was going to happen! That’s why I ran off to Tarshish! I knew you were sheer grace and mercy, not easily angered, rich in love, and ready at the drop of a hat to turn your plans of punishment into a program of forgiveness! (MSG)

Dying for Christ? Never thought about it.....

More than 500 doctors came together and their only focus was how to reach the majority through their profession. Its against the law to share your faith to them. Some place it's the death penalty. But still they had so much passion for the lost souls. Even though the muslims are killing the christians. I have never seen such passion before. Most of the doctors wer e young adults. They were very clear on their purpose in life. "Serving God".  The doctors were sharing how the reach the majority  in their own countries. When I heard their presentations, I cried because our people (including me) with so much comfort have less than10% of these people's passion for God. Yet they never talked about money when it came for prayer request. All the asked was to pray for courage and passion to stand firm for God. One doctor said in his presentation: "Jesus died our us so we as doctors must be prepared to die for Christ" I cried. Their passion for God and the m

Let your light so shine before man - A reflection

I almost 1:00AM in the early morning and I am meditating on the words in Mathew 5:14-16. I was reminded that the first words from God in the Bible is "Let there be light". God and light are inseparable.    1 John 1:5-6 -  This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him  there is no darkness at all. The Glory of God in the Old Testament was manifested in light, emanating from fire. The pillar of fire in the wilderness and even the mount that was ablaze when Moses was in God's presence. What is this light of the glory of God? Moses wanted to put a face to this glory and that is why he asked the Lord, "show me your glory" But God manifested the light of His glory in a way, much unexpected by Moses: Instead of a human similar face or some unimagined  manifestation,  God said: Ex 33:19  - And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name,  the L
