Covid19 - When it threatens you and your household

It's always reality check when a crisis come close to you and your loved ones. The serenity is usually not disturbed much  if someone else is in the storm, But when you or your loved ones come close to one, or are already in one, then the emotional thermostat readings fluctuate according to one trust and commitment in God.  It's in times like this when your faith and trust is challenged and questioned. To me this is another in my journey. "My times are in Your  hands".. Psalms 31:15 This morning I was called by the nearby polyclinic to come down for a test. The nurse told me that I am a close contact of a positive Covid19 patient. On 16 Mar I had been to the polyclinic for a persistent cough that was troubling me for the last two months. On 16 Mar the doctor told me that my cough was not related to Covid19. When I arrived at the clinic, I was informed that on 16 Mar, I was seated in a waiting area where a person was tested positive for Covid19. The clinic also

PEC's last day before major renovation

Image
Today marks the last day of PEC's building before we go into a massive renovation work. We had a good combined service this morning. The awesome presence of the Holy Spirt brooded over the end of the service as we began to dedicate ourselves to the Lord. It was just like old times.  Over the years we had tried to renovate the church on many occasions but failed to get the necessary approval from the authorities. But this year we managed to get the approval and I believe that this is God's timing and plan. "He made all things beautiful in His time (Ecc 3:11) As I set at the back row, I noticed a few things that reminded me of the faithfulness of God. A few of the 3th generation (Jude and Chloe) were on the instruments. The worship leaders (Punitha and Jonathan)were from the 2nd generation. The speaker, Pst Alvin is from the 2nd generation and I closed the service as a representative of the first generation. This was not planned at all. You may think this is cha

Mom's 80th birthday

Image
Yesterday we celebrated my mom's birthday in church. It was her 80th birthday. Because of Covid10, we decided to eep the celebration small within church members. Many of my friends were disappointed at not being invited. The reason being, she has been such an influence on the lives of so many people.  When she was 30 something She is a woman of payer, a great should winner, bring so many people to the kingdom of God. She does not have a secular education but this only goes to show that God can use anyone who is filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and is totally dedicated to Him. Some of the people she brought to Christ have become pastors today, leading their own congregations. The Challenges face a special item She has been a christian for 48 years. Her live has impacted so many. She is one of the highest contributor when it comes to mission funds in my church. When Jeya and I go on mission trip, we are comforted by the fact that we are always covered by her

The passing of another saint

Image
It was with sadness that I received the news of the passing of Pst David Cheng, senior pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He succumbed to Covid19.  I first met Pst Cheng in Penang when he attended the Haggai National Seminar. I did not get to interact with him much during that time.  Later he invited me to his church. Last May I was there in Kuching and took the subject of Biblical Mandate. He came to the airport to pick me up. He looked serious but soon I discovered how humble and passionate he was for the Lord. We had a wonderful three days of meetings in his church. Both he and his wife took me out for meals and I really found them to have such a heart for God that is unique. They had a "different spirit", like Caleb of old. He was funny too and the NextGen got along with him very well. Good people and true servants of God are hard to come by these days. I am glad I met him.  I will miss him but not for long.

Trip to India affected by Covid-19

Many people, including my family,  were asking me not to go on this trip because of all the happenings. And it is the right ting to do in the current circumstances. Covid-19 is spreading like wild fire all around the globe and  even in India.  Out of the blue, this morning I heard a message from a good friend. He was sharing on the following: Acts 21:12-14 : When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.” The prophet and the people told Paul not to go. But Paul knew what God has told him.  I was clear in my mind that we will not cancel the trip, unless the Lord decides otherwise. In fact most of the team members also had the same mind. I was humbled that young people did not thing of their

Servanthood - Part 2

This morning I continued on the subject of servanthood and I dealt with who is a servant. --> The servant is one who knows who he is in Christ --> A servant is one who has a “serving God mind-set” --> One who serves not because of  compulsion but by choice. --> One who does the will of the Father I also discussed what the word servant meant. I concluded that it has all the reference to a slave. The subject is too wide to be covered in a blog so I have decided to write my second book, God willing. You can guess the topic.
