Five Months Report of the PEC Church Planters, Tamil Nadu

The following report was submitted by our Tamil Nadu Coordinator, Rev John Signey. He is also the Principal of the PEC- Ecclesia Training Centre. =============== Praise God for his wonderful blessings. By God's grace and under the banner of Praise Evangelical Ministries our 10 church planters started working in the fields since Mar, after their graduation. They have made some progress in the mission field. Some of them are facing opposition in the villages yet they are persevering for the gospel. We have started to work in 6 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu. As a means of gaining access into the villages Sunday School/Tuition centres have been started in 6 villages. 9 cell groups/house meetings have been started in various villages. This week we will be starting two more Sunday Schools in two new villages. My brother and I often travel to the villages to supervise and help these young church planters. Some people have accepted Jesus and the church planters are le

Report from the Himalayas

The following report was given by our Coordinator in North East India, Pst Samuel Sharma. By God's grace in March 2010 we started church planting pioneering work in Bhutan with seven Church planters under the banner of PEC Singapore. After much difficulty and hard work, we saw the fruits of our labour Phurba and Dil bahadur (our co-workers) worked in the south western regions of Bhutan, and they are doing tremendous work, traveling from village to village sharing the gospel, they faced alot of obstacles, since the country doesn't allow the conversion and it is against the law. Phurba had started the cell in a place called Khanna Bhatti which is in the same district while Dil Bahadur started another work in Chengmari. By God's grace both the cells are growing. Another cell started in Rangetung in Pasakha Bhutan under Chukha District by Martha Rai . Martha is a simple lady but very effective. On 23 Jul after five months of hard work, she will be baptising seven people. Fr

Nehemiah - The Civil Servant

Nehemiah was not a prophet or a priest. He was a civil servant. Yet God used him to achieve something what the kins/prophets/priests of those days could not do. You and I need not be a clergy yet God can use the laity if there is passion and a clear vision. The qualities we considered so far are: Conscientious Concerned Compassion Conviction Conviction comes as a result of a clear understanding of who God is. Convictions results from a clear understanding of one's self. Conviction results from a clear understanding of the need around us. In Chapter 1, verses 8-10, Nehemiah recounts the misery of his people. They are in exile, walls need to be rebuilt. He is going to see the king with the request to go back because there was a great need back in Jerusalem. A clear understanding of the need around him drove him to fast and pray and that actually gave birth to the vision of rebuilding the walls of the city of his father. It drove him to the King, he went all the way back to Jerusalem

Why revival tarries

One of the books that I would recommend every Christian to read is the one written by Leonard Ravenhill, Why Revival Tarries. Every time I read this book, I get convicted, forcing me to my knees. In chapter 6, the author gives some reasons why there is no revival in churches today: Revival tarries because: Evangelism is so commercialised. The tithes of the widows and the poor are spent in luxury living by many evangelists. Of cheapening the Gospel . The church is prepared to do anything, just to get anyone in. Compromise values. Of carelessness. Little time is spent with those who sincerely wants to seek God. Of fear. Pluralism. Being cautious of offending the sinner. We lack urgency in prayer . The only power God yields to is the power of prayer. We will write about prayer-power but will not fight in prayer. We steal the glory that belongs to God. My ministry, my books, my church, my.. Oh the sickening parade of the flesh. If you can, get hold of a copy of this book.

Jessica graduates from NUS

Image
Today was our eldest daughter, Jessica's graduation from the National University of Singapore. She completed her Bachelors in Science with merit. As we recall her journey through her education, we can truly say God is good. Getting into NUS is already a blessing, being one of the top universities in Asia. Completing the course is an added favour. The words in Psalms 84:11 comes to my mind, "For the LORD God is a sun and s hield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." It was really a joy to witness her graduation and recount the blessings of God. Most of the graduates will be running about seeking lucrative employment. With an NUS degree, you are much sought after in the market place. But we want to thank God that Jessica wants to join Youth With a Missions (YWAM) for the next few months before deciding on her future. She will be undergoing the Discipleship Training program with YWAM and possibly serve as a missi

Church Planting efforts start in Orissa with effect from Jul

Image
By God's grace from Jul, we have started supporting 10 church planters in Orissa . Rev John Signey , our Coordinator for Tamil Nadu and principal of the Ecclessia Training Centre, visited the church planters this week. Most of them work in the interior areas where mostly the tribal people live, especially in the districts of Rajgada and Kandhamal . These church planters work under tremendous persecution both from the Hindu extremists and also from the Naxalites (communists). They need your continual support and prayer. Many of the church planters work in very poor conditions but use whatever is available to serve God. Here you see one of them using an utensil used for cooking food, as an instrument to sing praises to God. This must put many of us to shame who take all the blessings we have for granted.

Nehemiah - The man God uses - Part 5b

Nehemiah 1:6-7 I am compelled to continue the devotions on this man. The last devotion was penned on 1st May where we considered the characteristics of a man God uses, drawing lessons from the life of this government official Nehemiah. The qualities we considered so far are: Conscientious Concerned Compassion Conviction In the last session we saw firstly conviction comes as a result of a clear understanding of who God is. He is a covenant keeping God. He wants and loves to bless His people. Secondly convictions results from a clear understanding of one's self . In verse 6-7 Nehemiah realises not only has his forefathers sinned but he himself is also included in the category. Nehemiah was not responsible for the exile of God's people nor for the destruction of the temple and its walls. Yet he realised that sin was the key issue between God and man, including his own sin and very humbly includes himself. Until and unless one realises his sinful nature and the need for a saviour,
