Reflections - 2010

The year has fast come to an end. Its Christmas tomorrow. New year is just a week away. How time flies. This Christmas is different from the rest. First time our daughter Jessica is away. She just completed her training in YWAM in Richmond and leaving for Chile on 26 Dec for missions exposure. As I take stock of my life (so should you), I bow in humble adoration to God, and proclaim "Great is Thy faithfulness." Lamentation 3:23. Many years back, when reviewing the past year's accomplishments, I always groan in regret, that I have not done what I was supposed to do. Many resolutions not kept, many promptings not responded and many lives not touched. And that has been the testimonies of many who always regret for the wasted opportunities. This year and the recent past years have been different. I recall the many Pastors/Leaders/believers whose lives have been touched, the many lives that have responded to the gospel and the many churches/cells that have been established. I

Dad's First Anniversary

Image
Yesterday we remembered our Dad's first anniversary in church. I read the following during the evening service. "17 Dec 2010 marks the first anniversary of my Dad's passing into Glory. My family has, by God's grace and the prayer of saints, moved on and are managing with his absence. Yet we do miss him. Every time we come to church, his favourite seat remains empty. It used to be occupied by one of PEC's patriarchs. Sometimes he slumbers on the seat after a tiring night shift duty at work but his belief that God's house must be honoured on the Lord's day at any cost, kept him faithful to his covenant. The home is still vibrant with his legacy. As I was going through his papers, I was amazed how meticulously he had kept his documents and had done all that was required for my mom and sister. My sister has displayed Dad's pictures all over the house and sometimes it makes you feel that he is still around. But it is also a soft reminder that our turn will s

PRAISE EVANGELICALCHURCH, Singapore….The mission minded church!

In 2011, we have the following evangelistic objectives through the local Indian and Bhutanese Christians: Increase the number of rural area evangelism teams in Andhra Pradesh to 23. (each team is to reach 10 villages per month with the gospel) Continue to run the three training centres plus start a fourth one. Support 30 additional church planters/pastors, making the total number more than 120. Finalize construction of an orphanage that will provide a home and a Christian education to at least 20 orphans who will become future missionaries. Continue to support the Bangladesh project. Open new frontiers in Pakistan and Madhya Pradesh. Develop a training centre that can also house students during training sessions. How can you help? $45 per month supports one church planter or a pastor. $50 per month supports one child in the orphanage. $100 per month supports one rural area evangelism team (two persons.) $500 will assist in providing meal

PRAISE EVANGELICAL CHURCH, Singapore….The mission minded church!

2010 Annual Report Praise Evangelical Church (PEC), believes wholeheartedly in the Great Commission. Jesus said in Mathew 28: 19-20 : “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Not only does PEC believe in the Great Commission, we are convinced that it is our responsibility to fulfil it, realising that time is short. This is why in the last few years and especially the last four years, we have worked diligently to achieve our vision and mission. Our vision: That all 26,000 villages in Andhra Pradesh , India will hear the Gospel. To form partnerships with local church leaders to plant churches in Andhra Pradesh and regions beyond . To equip Leaders/Church Planters in attaining the full measure of the fullness of Christ by conducting Leadership and Evangelism seminars.

Pakistan Flood Relief - Follow-up

In Oct Praise Evangelical Singapore embarked on a humanitarian mission in partnership with Bishop Haroon, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Pakistan and an alumni of Haggai Institute. The aid was well received and the victims were deeply thankful for the efforts. However what we did was only a drop in the ocean. Much needs to be done. As winter was fast approaching, we decided to embark on another mission to help alleviate the misery of the hush weather. Pst Steven went to Lahore from 12-15 Dec and tog ether with Bishop Haroon's team, helped 300 families with ri ce and basic winter apparels. The Bishop had the following words to say: "The Methodist Churc h of Pakistan and all its staff , all over t he Pakistan are thank ful for your help and for your p ractical love of Christ for 300 floods affected families for distributing winter need Items and food on the occasion of Christmas 2010. We are thankful to The Lord Jesus for The Praise Evangelical Church and staff who

Sharach Home - Update

Image
The construction of the Shadrach home is halfway through. The construction has been hampered by bad weather. God willing it will be completed by Jan 11. Currently Pst John Signey, our Coordinator for Tamil Nadu and Orissa, is processing the adoption of 20 boys. The process should be completed by mid Feb 2011. The purpose of this Home is to train and groom the missionaries of the future. If the Lord tarries, the plan is to send these boys as missionaries to Europe in the future. I am inviting you to partner with us in this project. It costs only USD 40 a month to upkeep one child in the Home. This is a long term investment but one that pays dividents in God's kingdom. We will provide the necessary training and upbringing to ensure that these men are transformed from street kids to the Shadrachs, Meshachs, Abednegos and Daniels of the future. Do let me know if you intend to "adopt" one of these boys.

US Trip - Mission Accomplished

I finally completed my mission with Haggai Institute’s Development Team on 16 Nov. I returned home this morning (19 Nov) at 0100 hrs after 29 hours of flight and transit, staging through Ohama, Phoenix , Los Angeles , Narita , Japan . It was a great trip. My host in Kansas and Nebraska were Mr and Mrs Larry Epp who were in the 70s. Is spite of their age, they moved with such mobility, that I had a hard time keeping up with them. Wonderful people who were sold out for God and for the tasks at Haggai Institute. They were more like parents than hosts. We were able to share many things about the ministry and family. They took real good care of me. had another privilege to met with G odly people who loved God and who had a passion to fulfill the Great Comm ission. I had the privilege of speaking at a number of meetings. It was indeed a humbl ing experience to be used by God in such dignified environ ment. I truly thank God for the many opportunities and the doors that He has opened. Many

Meeting with Friends of Haggai Institute

I am writing this entry at about 35,000 ft in a flight from Phoenix to Kansas City. I praise God for the opportunity to be here in US and meet with people who are passionate about the ministry of Haggai Institute. I arrived in Los Angeles on Sunday, 7 Nov and was greeted by Larry Rutland, Sr Development Director of Haggai Institute. From LA we drove about 4 hours to the city of Frenso. As we drove through I was really awed by the beautiful landscape California had to offer. Mountains scrapped the horizon on both sides and the valley was decorated with vineyards and fruit orchards. For the first time I saw real orange fruit trees. Weather was cool and pleasant but cold in the nights. Over the last four days we met a number of sponsors and potential sponsors. I had an opportunity to speak these groups about the Great Commission and the impact HI training can have in one’s live. On Wednesday morning there were more than 200 people from 12 churches gathered at a breakfast meeting. It was

Trip to the US

At the invitation of Haggai Institute (HI), I will be going on a journey to the US from 7-17 Nov. A couple of meetings with the business community and potential donors have been arranged in California, Kansas and Nebraska. As I share with them the impact of HI training, may God touch the listeners and make them realise the urgency of fulfilling the Great Commission. I thank God for this opportunity and requests friends to remember the following requests in prayer: Jessica is in the US undergoing the DTS with YWAM. Pray for God's clear direction in her life. Reena and Jonathan are sitting for their important exams. Pray for wisdom and peace. Jeya that she will be able to muti-task as she attends to work, home, church and study.

Pst John Daniel and I had a fruitful trip to the Bhutan Border. 29 participants from Assam, Sikkim, West Bengal and Bhutan participated in the 2 months Leadership and Evangelism Program, conducted at PEC School of Ministry. Pst John Daniel taught on the subject of Marketplace Evangelism while I shared on Leadership Principles. The participants were engaged in the sessions and many testified how their lives has been transformed as a result of this training. Pst John Daniel teaching on the subject of Marketplace Evangelism. Helping in the translation is Pst Satish from Delhi. Pst Satish is a fine brother with a great passion for the Nepali Diaspora. The graduation took place on the morning of 20 Oct and was well attended by the local christian community. The MLA of that area was also present at the ceremony. The participants put up a dance and rendered a song. It was tears after the graduation as these participants had to say goodbye after being together for two months. It was a joy to s
