Yesterday I had the honour to start off the first session for the new batch. This is the second batch. There were about 15 participants in this course and another five others joined in the session. The participants came from nine different countries. The topic was the Great Commission which is my favourite subject.  By the time I finished it was about 12:30AM here in Singapore  Tired but blessed. Praising God for the opportunity and also that the participants will be impacted.  Specially grateful to Pastor Nishant and his team for organising this training and for their dedication and passion.

He watches over you - “My strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.”

My strength does not come from the mountains but the maker of the mountains.    (Psalm 121:2)   God is:    Psalm 46:1  -  God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.    Psalm 18:2  - T he LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 2 Samuel 22:32-34  “For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.”   Psalms 54:4  “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” Exodus 15:11  “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” The famous English deist, Anthony Collins of the 17th century, met a plain countryman one day while out walking. He asked him where he was going. “To church, sir.” “What are you going to do there?” “

1st Zoom meeting with PEC Pastors in Telangana

Image
Today we conducted the 1st zoom meeting for PEC Pastors in 2021. About 40 pastors and church planters attended the one day seminar.  The following subjects were taught: Upper room Blessings - Rev Albert Pang 7 step to Victory in 2021 - Sis Josphine Wong Samson -The slippery road to sin - Myself We have adopted as a 2 prong approach in evangelism and discipleship. We believe both are important.  My teams go out and and reach as many places as possible. We have a second group who will conduct regular discipleship program for these church planters on different subjects. So every 3 months teaching sessions are going on for the CPs on discipleship. They will then go and teach the  members of their church. We are also in the process of starting a 3rd phase where we train disciple-makers.  When Covid19 hit these were put hold. Now we are slowly resuming through zoom. Its a challenge in some places but we are pressing on. We intend to conduct more such seminar this year due to Covid 19 restr

Psalms 121 - He watches over you

For the last two weeks my mind has been focused on Psalms 121. This is a very familiar psalm and I have read this over so many times. But one thing captured by attention, recently. I was attending this Bible Fellowship via zoom and one sister was asked to comment on this psalm. She said that there was once phrase that occurred four times in this psalm and its –   He watches over you. Verse 3  - he who watches over you will not slumber; Verse 5  -  The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; Verse 7  - he Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; Verse 8  -  the  Lord  will watch over your coming and going In fact, it appears five times, if you include, He watches over Israel in  verse 4 .   I thought that was interesting. I had not seen this before. So, I began to do a study on the different situations the Lord watches over “you” as seen from psalmist’s perspective in this short psalm.     Background   Psalm 121 is a Song of Ascents. What

Another new church congregation

Image
This morning Bishop Samuel Sharma updated me of another new work that is growing in Assam in a place called Navinagar Baganpara. This work was started about three years ago by  ice  if our  church  planters.  What a joy to see this. The harvest is indeed plentiful. If you have a church building, be thankful and fill the house. Too many people have become obsessed with the structure but not with the purpose. We in the cities have been overindulged. We need comfortable places to worship, short sermons, lively music and a pleasant coffee corner after the service. Does not matter if God is pleased with the worship or it the sermon is Holy Spirit- breathed. Sad to say many churches have become a club. We have a lot of accounting to do before the throne.  These people in the village have only have bamboos to be called a place of prayer. But they worship from their hearts. To them He is Lord.

Updates from the field

On our wedding anniversary, we were blessed to receive two encouraging reports. The first was a church dedication on our wedding anniversary. This took place in a village in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh. This is the first chruch dedication in 2021 and its PEC's 143rd church building. This building was sponsored by Bro John Inbaraj and family. Truly grateful to Bishop Nehemiah and his team for the perseverance even during Covid19 restrictions. The second was the growth of a new church in Assam. This work was started about two years ago by one of our church planters and God has blessed the work. Many people are coming to worship the Lord. Grateful to Bishop Samuel Sharma and the church planters for the diligent work in the field.  This place certainly needs a building. Currently they are worhsipping in a small shed which is becoming too small for the gathering. A simple building will cost about Sing $5000.  I invite you to sow and invest in God's kingdom by providing this congregat

35th Wedding Anniversary

Today marks another major milestone in our lives. Our journey has been simply extraordinary.  Literally took us over mountains and valleys, rivers and seas, cities and forests. Been to places where no foreigner has been. Been through experiences not many will know and seen things which many are not privileged to see. We have had our fair share of challenges and tears, opposition and fears. triumphs and failures. But the scarlet thread that held us together and seen us through this journey is God’s amazing faithfulness, love and mercy. “His mercies are new every morning” .  This “three-fold cord” has enabled us to be where we are today. We are indeed thankful to the Lord for all that He enabled us to do and for all those who stood us in our journey. To my wife, I would say, “Thank you for staying by my side and for being my better half”, I don’t know what I would have been without you.”   Our journey confirms that when a couple puts God as their priority, everything else will fall in

Watch Night Service - 31 Dec 2020

Image
Last night we ended the year 2020 and began 2021 in church, our renovated church with all the social distancing in force. Although not fully completed, it was a sight to behold. Everyone was impressed with the renovation. It's simply pretty. We have not met together face to face for about ten months now, because of the pandemic and also due to the renovation. Slightly more than 100 people attended the service. It was indeed a joy to see many of them again, some I have not seen in the last ten months. Our safe ambassadors did a fantastic job in ensuring all the government  regulations regarding Covid19 were met. The service was sombre yet dignified and one could sense the tangible presence of God. For me seeing the renovated building was like "passing on the baton". The transition is almost complete. It's now up to the next level of leaders to take the church to the next level. Nevertheless God is in charge and He will not allow the sweat of the pioneers to go in vain.
