Wise saying

I sought neither preeminence, glory, nor riches; my honor was that Jesus Christ should reign - John  Knox  John Knox who lived in the 16th  century, was the leader of the Protestant Reformation. He was a key leader in Scotland and was instrumental in bringing about the reformation in the Presbyterian  church.  John Knox was a man of prayer. One of the famous prayers that is often attributed to him was, “Give me Scotland, or I die” .  It was an intense passionate plea for the salvation of the people of Scotland. His prayer also echoes the Apostle Paul’s prayer in Romans 10:1 , “my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”  May the Lord give us the same passion for the lost souls, especially those who have ever heard the gospel in remote places. This  great man of God,  in spite  of all the  achievements  for the Kingdom, says in  humility, " my honour was that Jesus Christ should reign". Wasn't it the same sentiments that Paul expressed in

Preaching assignment

Today I have two preaching assignments.  In the morning I had the privilege of sharing the Word at Abundant Life family Church in Ang Mo Kio. I had known Senior Pastor Allan Ang since I was a young Christian. He was a vibrant evangelist then and even today. Every week he still leads a team to reach out to the community, even though he is in his 70's. What an amazing man with passion for God and I pray that I will be like him even as I grow old. In the afternoon I ministered at His Arrow Church in Bishan. Pst Aow is a good friend and he has been with us in the mission field in India and Indonesia.  God touched the lives of many people in the service. I spoke on "God breaks for the better" in both services, the passage taken from Genesis 32:21-30. Thanking God for the opportunities.

Relief aid for the persecuted in Pakistan

Image
In partnership with the Great Commission Church in Gujarat, Punjab, we organised a relief aid for the victims of the persecution.  Pst Ashraf Maqbool of the Great Commission Church, helped organise this effort. The distribution was done on 25 Aug. When the distribution team  arrived at  Faisalabad district , what they witnessed was very troubling. They were almost in tears to see the condition of our brothers and sisters, their homes and their churches. Situation was very painful and terrible and they were weeping and crying. It it was a heart breaking moment. The team was able to distribute  groceries  to  about  100  families  of 3 churches badly affected by the persecution. Each bag of relief items cost about $50 and can last about 2 weeks. The help we offered was not much but it was received with much appreciation. Let's continue to prayer for all theses brothers and sisters, as they  result  their lives, families, homes and  church. May the Lord grant them special mercies.  Fr

Persecution Pakistan

Image
If you have been following the news, you would have known about the severe persecution against Christians in the city of Jaranwala,  in the Faisalabad district of Pakistan . On 16 Aug, a Muslim mob set on fire, 28 churches, houses of poor christians and looted their all valuable goods in the name of Islam. The old, children, women and young girls were forced to flee from their houses in order to protect themselves.  My contacts from Haggai International informed me that there is a great immediate need for dry ration, cots, cooler for water, some clothes for wearing and for sleeping sheets. There is also a major need to repairing for burnt houses and church buildings. Not much help is coming to them at this moment. Some of my  Christian  friends from Pakistan were clamouring for help.  I managed to raise some funds from concerned friends in this region and through PEC rendered some help for our brothers and sister in this time of need. But for "most of the christian world", it

Ministry in Chhattisgarh

Image
After arrival from the bus station, I got changed and we went for a baptism service.  Bishop Anjan also arrived from Odisha and joined us.    Pastor Lahson, one of our church planters, has been working in Adawal village and three new members were ready for baptism.  It was my joy to baptise these new believers.  After the baptism, we went to the village for a house meeting. Pst Lohson has been working in this village for some years and this congregation is ready for a church building. Bishop Anjan shared the word. After this we  dedicated PEC's 198th church building in Tonguda village. About 60 people were gathered for the church dedication. I was blessed to see the work of the Lord expanding in very difficult circumstances in Chhattisgarh. God is good indeed. The remaining days were spent in discussions on how to move the work in Chhattisgarh forward. On 11 Aug night, I took the overnight bus to Ripur, rendezvoused with Pst Pathi and Bro Inderjit on 12 Aug, who had a fruitful time

Overnight bus ride to Jagdalpur.

Image
Pst Rahul dropped me to wait for the bus. I told Pst Rahul to go back to his hotel, as my departure is in an hours time and it was already 10PM. It waiting area was under a flyover, dark, a lot of mosquitos, and alone. As I was surveying the environment and my journey, I was reminded that mine is nothing compared to what my Lord Jesus had to go through for me. I was also reminded of Paul's evils for the ministry. I thanked God mine was far from being a peril, minor discomforts the most.  The sleeper bus ride was not bad actually. Managed to catch some sleep. I arrived Jagdalpur in the morning at about 5AM. Bishop Nehemiah and Bishop Prabu Lal were waiting for me at the bus station.

Trip to Agra and Chhattisgarh 4-13 Aug

Image
This is my first trip in eight years to Agra. The last time I was here was in 2015. I was invite to teacher the Great Commission to participants of the HPL Leadership Program.  Gaddiel and I arrived New Delhi on 4 Aug night. However at the immigrations Gaddiel as not allowed entry as his visa was issued on an old passport. The officers refused entry even though Gaddiel had a picture of the old passport page.  It's unbelievable that at an age of going paperless and digital, this is happening at the capital state of India. I did not have problems in other states in India. Sadly I took a cab to Agra. By the time I reached my hotel, it was 3:00AM. It was a joy to meet Pst Rahul John again. He is a wonderful man of God, young but very matured and passionate for the Lord. Also met Pst Pathi and Bro Inderjit from HPL, Klang who were there for their part of the ministry. There were about 25 participants in this program. They were very interactive and very keen in learning. The sessions wer

Promise verse for Aug - Psalms 29:11

This is one of those psalms where David extols the Lord for who He is. God is simply  omnipotent. He is majestic and is worthy of all our praise.  Something unique about this Psalm: The name "Lord" appears seventeen times and the phrase "voice of the Lord" appears seven times. In the opening words, David calls on the heavenly beings to Ascribe to the Lord or Honour the Lord. Honour Him for his glory and strength and  Honour Him for   glory of His name.  What a powerful name it is - The name of Jesus. The awesome glory of His name where Paul tell us in Philippians 2:10-11 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,   and  that  every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ  is  Lord, to the glory of God the Father. And how are we to honour Him? -   Worship the  Lord  in the  splendour  of his holiness. You cannot  separate  God's  holiness  from His glory. They are intertwined and we a
