Weekend in Jakarta

Image
Friday night I went to work and the next morning I rushed to the airport. Thanks to my son Jonathan for driving me in quick time.  Bro Happy picked me up from the airport and took me for a good "nasi padang" lunch. Bro Timothy also joined us. On Sunday I spoke at three services at Gereja Kristus Yesus, Jemaat Sunter.  I was blessed to be in the church as I met some of my old friends.  I spoke on the prayer of Paul in Ephesians 3 - "God is listening" Thanking God for all the opportunities to proclaim His name. It was also good to meet HI friends, Happy and Tommy, men with great passion for the lost. Now checked in and waiting for flight to Singapore.

PAM - Dhaka

For two days I attend the Pentecostal Asia Missions Consultations. For the first time I was in the company of about 200 like minded people who heart and passion was for missions. I was blessed to hear some reports on how the missions organizations are reaching the unreached peoples group. I realized that the harvest is plentiful but laborers are indeed few. We really need to pray for more workers. I had the opportunity ti share what we are doing in the mission field and the feedback was very good.  I am more resolved to do more for the kingdom after attending the conference. Praising God for all the opportunities and blessings on my life. To God be the glory.

Trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh

It has been a long day. I finished work this morning at 7:15 am. Rushed home to get my bags. Bro Rubern was waiting to take me to the airport. My departure was at 10;10am. As I left the office, I realized that I had left n=my house keys in church last night after the board meeting. If I was to go to church to pick up my keys, I will not be able to make it to the airport in time. Thank God Reena was still at home and she has not left yet to go to work. I arrived at the airport in good time. Thanks to Bro Rubern. Now I am in KL waiting for my connection to Dhaka. I am on my way to attend the Pentecostal Asia Pacific Missions Conference. I have been given a slot time to speak. I have no clue who is coming for the conference or what is the expectation. I am just trusting the Lord. Feeling sleepy after last night shift work.  This will be the 4th new country the Lord has opened for me this year, to share the Word. Honestly I feel humbled and grateful for all the opportuniti

Another new work started in a remote place in Odisha

It was with joy that I learnt that one of our church planters has started a new work in a remote place, about 120km from Bissamcuttack. Last week our coordinators went to this difficult palace and were blessed to see the birth of a another new work Help us end gospel poverty.

Humility

Prosperity and success are usually the standards by which a person is gauged in this world. God, on the contrary, defines a person by the depth of his humility.   James 4:10 - Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Phi 2:5-6 - In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, Humility is not what is seen on the outside. Man may be  impressed by this but not God. He sees what's in the recesses  of our hearts.  True humility forgives from the depth of the heart. True humility rejoices at the success of the other, from the depth of the heart True humility voices opinions from the depth of the heart, not mere sugar coating. True humility gives from the depth of the heart.

Facing challenges? - There is always an answer at the foot of the cross.

The Christian world was rocked again by another sad news today. Pastor and writer Jarrid Wilson has died by committing suicide.  https://relevantmagazine.com/current/pastor-and-writer-jarrid-wilson-has-died-by-suicide/?fbclid=IwAR2YzlUs3O6iKawWhGS26zbd45CXNQSrin0fWxwPKOBu0tnCeXVgipDxESM He was a mega-church pastor, autho r, and mental health advocate.   "He was also one of my “idols” during my early years in my faith and I followed him on every social media platform because I just like the way he conveys his message", said one of his admirers. I don't want to speculate  the reason for the death. Probably only his wife and close friends would know the answer. Can't imagine their grief and sorrow at this point. May God be their solace during this difficult moment. But there are some important  lessons that we must take note. Pastors are also humans , just like everyone else. They too have they fears, worries, sins, just  like anyone else. I should know thi

Glad news.

Two years ago, I encouraged HighPointe Church in Klang, Malaysia, to launch out to do mission work. I introduced them to my good friends Rahul John and his brother Depark who are working in Agra, India.  Soon a partnership was established between these two and I was joyful when I read the following posting in fb this mooning  bu one of the leaders in HighPointe. In just two short years we have seen God do amazing things through simple faith and humble beginnings since opening doors for us in India. 10 churches established and lives transformed through the love of God and the power of the Gospel. Spending time with them this last one week has reaffirmed how simple obedience in love and faith can yield much fruit for the Kingdom." The above is one of their churches. Truly  joy unspeakable. o Him alone be the Glory.

13th Batch Graduation at PEC School of Ministry

Image
What a joy to know that 13 students graduated from PEC School of Ministry, located near Jaigaon at the Bhutan Border. It is indeed mazing to see how the Lord has led us to raise so many church planters in the North East Region. My heart is full of joy and humbled that He chose us to be a part of this work.  This is the first graduation that I am missing. Too many travels and work schedules did not permit me to travel  this time. But God was there and that is most important. Special thanks to our good friend   Satyendra Basumata   for gracing the occasion. Thankful to Bishop Samuel and family for all the hard work in NE India.  To God be the glory.

The dearth of Evangelism

This morning I was surprised to read an article in one of the mainline Malaysian newspaper about evangelism in Malaysia. https://www.malaymail.com/news/opinion/2019/09/02/the-paranoia-over-christian-evangelism-in-malaysia/1786366 The writer questions why the Malays in Malaysia are particularly worried about massive evangelism efforts by christians. The writer's opinion is as follows: "I could tell them that I’ve been attending Christian churches and meetings for over 40 years and never once have I heard anything about any scheme or plot or design to “place as many Christians as possible in national leadership positions.”  All I ever hear are Christian leaders praying for Malaysia, for justice and good governance to prevail. I could tell him that evangelism — the sharing of one’s faith to someone outside the religious community — is one of the  weakest  aspects of almost any church in the country .  Christians are really good at complaining about everyt
