This Sunday morning we considered Jesus entry into Jerusalem. The passage of scripture was taken from Matthew 21;1-11 . Pst Alvin was the speaker. It was a good message. He risked the following points: 1.   Colt -  There was the donkey and a colt (a young of a donkey). No one has set upon the colt before. Probably the colt must have been fearful when it was called by the Master. But there was the senior donkey who could have cajoled the young to obey the command of the Master. It talks about mentoring those who are weaker in faith or who need help to grow spiritually.  2.   People -  This group of people were shouting Hosanna and praises to God. But they were the same ones who cried "Crucify Him" a few dates later. Probably they realized that Jesus is not the one who will deliver them from the Roman authority.  Lesson: Do we follow Jesus only when things work out our own way. Will we follow Him when trials, challenges and persecution sets in...

Graduation in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh

Image
This is my first time attending the graduation in Chhattisgarh. It was simple but an important milestone. By God's grace we have established 11 such centers in the mission field. The event took place on 19 Mar 19. To God be the Glory

Meeting the students and graduation

Image
This morning  I took a session with the students. I continued my series on "Reaping 100% results". They still remembered what I taught  them in Jan. All of them want to do church planting after  graduation, Some challenging news from Singapore. My mom was not too well. She has been having a lot of phlegm in her chest and was having breathing problems. Jonathan took her to the polyclinic and she was referred to KTP Hospital. She was warded but by evening, she was much better. The graduation was held in a nearby Catholic Centre. More than 150 people attended the ceremony. This is the 3rd  graduation and it was done very well. I shared from 2 Tim 4:6-8 on Finishing Well. Overall the graduation was well planned and the execution was good. I was pleased with what I saw and was thankful to be part of this process. To God be the glory.

Journey to Patna

I was supposed to reach Ripur bus station at 4:20 AM. But I was exhausted and when I woke up it was 5:10 AM and the bus was empty. I landed 40 km away from Riour Station. It was dark and few people were at this "Trug Bus Station". None could speak English. Fortunately Bishop Nehemiah had a contact in Ripur and he called me on my phone at about that time. With his help, I managed to get an auto to Kumari where this Pastor Amos stayed. He and his wife were so gracious to allow me into his house. I had a cold shower after 24 hrs and it was so nrefreshing. God has His way of taking care if His children. Pst Amos drove me to the airport well on time. It was the Holi holidays and the roads were empty. I arrived well on time at Patna but had to wait at the airport for more than 2 hrs. Pst Raji warned me that the roads in Patna were filled by Holi merrymakers and it was not safe to get out of the airport. Eventually Pst Raji arrived and we reached his place without any inci...

A hectic day

Image
Today we had five meetings and three house visitations. We started the day at 8:30am and finished about 8:30pm. Pst Prabhu Lal and myself travelled on motorcycle to visit some of the church planters in Bastar district. Each of them were about 20 km away from each other and were outside Jagdalpur. The congregations were between 20-50 members in size. Not bad for a pioneering work in a state  that has an anti conversion law. We praise God for all that He is doing in this state. By the time I reached the bus station  at 8:50pm, I was exhausted and hungry. For the last three days I had been surviving on some fruits and ‘murukku’, an Indian snack. I just wanted to lie  down. The bus was comfortable though. As I laid down to rest, I reflected on the journey for the last three days. Its just amazing to see the work of the Holy Spirit in these places. One thing is for sure, the harvest is indeed plentiful. The need is great and its so sad that the labo...

Baptisms and graduation

Image
We were supposed to start at 10 am. But things did not move till noon. I guess that’s how things work here. Nevertheless we conducted baptism for 17 people in a nearby pond. The water was brown in colour. Some ladies were washing their clothes in the pond and one was washing a catch of prawns in the same muddy water. My friends from Singapore will never eat food from this place after seeing this. But it was a joy to see people committing their lives to Jesus and boldly proclaiming their faith in spite of the many persecution in this state. In the evening we conducted the Graduation ceremony for 12 students who have been studying in the training centre under the church planters  program. More than 100 people had gathered for the ceremony. Many of them travelled from more than 100 km to be here. These people are the fruits of the church planters work. This is the first graduation ceremony in Chharttisgarh. It was simple and a bit haphazard but historcial for PEC. Aft...

1st day In Chharttisgarh

Image
I arrived Hyderabad last night and checked into nearby hotel. This morning Bishop Nehemiah drove me to the airport. On arrival at Ripur airport, Pst Prabu Lal and Pst John Nag were there to receive me. From there we drove 6 hrs to Jagdalpur. Roads were pretty good but the travel was long. That evening we visited two tution centres in the villages. Parents will not send kids to church but they will send them to tution centres to learn English and also help for their school work. Through these means the villagers are seeing the love of Christ. The first centre was about 45 mins drive from Jagdalpur. It was in a remote place. There were about 60 kids benifitng from this program. Pst  Tuhti Dewda has started a church  here as well. About 30 people are coming  for the services. From there we drove for about an hour  and came to PEC main centre at Kopaguda. Pst Prabu Lai is incharge of this centre and the church. The same place is also used as a trainjng ...

Departure for India

Its time to travel again. This time to Chhattisgarh and Bihar. Going to meet iur friends and leaders who have been working hard in the field. Lots of travelling and tight programs. Need alot of grace, favour and protection.

The heart of man

The Christchurch shooting incident once again exposed the desperate condition of the human heart.  Forty-nine people were killed in  shootings at two mosques in central Christchurch, New Zealand,  on Friday, 15 Mar 2019, in a terrorist attack that appeared to have been carried out by a white nationalist extremist who posted a racist manifesto online and streamed live video of the attacks on Facebook. Dozens more were injured in the incident No wonder Jeremiah said in Jer 17:9 -  The heart   is deceitful above all thing    and beyond cure.  Who can understand it? That's why Jesus came into this world to give us a new heart, one that loves and does what God was us to do. Ezekiel 36:26-27 -  And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.   And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful...

Update from the Mission Team

Image
The team with Khaw Shin, Martha and Pst John Phongsar Today the team concluded two days of VBS with the children. The kids were blessed and so was the team. Tomorrow they will travel 12 hrs to Mandalay for a night stop and then to Yangon, where they will visit an Indian Village.

Challengers first meeting of the year

Image
Today the senior citizens, who call themselves as Challengers, gathered for the first meeting of this year. About 20 of them gave together for a time of prayer and fellowship. A husband and wife, seekers, came for the service and they asked to be prayed for. I had the privilege of sharing the Word with them. I shared from Psalms 30:11 -  You turned my wailing   into dancing;  you removed my sackcloth  and clothed me with joy.  These are our prayer warriors. We  exist  because of our Lord Jesus Christ  and them.

Mission Trip to Myanmar

Image
Today this PEC team went to Myanmar to visit the children at the Shadrach Home in Tanyan in Northern Shan State. They will also visit and minister to the Indian village in Thanlyin. Praise God for the missions DNA in our people. May the Lord grant them strength and grace for the ministry in Myanmar. To God be the glory.

Here am I...

After months of writing and editing, the book is almost complete. Waiting for one more edit before it got to the printers. I am really excited about this. It's only because of Him

Journey back Home

This time I decided to take a train to Vizag. It was at 3:OOAM and I reached Vizag at 7:AM. Pst Joshua, an old associate of PEC picked me up and settled me into a small hotel. We had a great vegetarian lunch at my usual restaurant "Sai Ram Parlour". Its a must stop for Jeya and me whenever we visit Vizag. The vegetarian food is super. After a night flight I arrived Singapore on 3 Mar and went to church for the morning service after a quick shower.  God is so good. Needs in Odisha: 4 new churches buildings at a cost of $6000 each 2 more children's tuition program in the villages at $100  a month each. A secondhand motor bike at $800. To God be the Glory

Odisha - Day 3

Image
This morning I met the children from the Shadrach Home, before they left for school. It is getting more difficult to run children homes in Odisha as the government is claiming down on NGO's. The conversion fear is crippling them.  Today we headed to Kandamal District to visit our church planters. If you remember, Kandamal was the place where the persecution first started in 2008. Many christians were unjustly tortured  and violently killed. But today many villages are coming to know Christ. The blood of the martyrs was never shed  in vain. We are reaping the harvest. We visited three villages. These groups were smaller but many are coming to know Christ. When they worshipped you can literally sense the tangible presence of the Lord. It was so powerful. They did not need any musical instruments or a worship team to cajole them to worship. It came from a thankful heart.  I was blessed to meet the church planters and to see how they were working i...
