Reflection 2019

As I come to the close of the year, I aways take stock of what I have been doing with my life, family and ministry.  It’s always good to take stock. As I see the postings over the last few days on facebook and other social media, its soo good to see how my friends have been blessed wuth family and good life. I see many celebrate on holidays and taking pride in going to many new destinations, trying exortic ventures and food and just celebrating life. Nothing wrong at all. But one thing remians and I think that is the ultimate question for every believer. How did my life impact the Kingdom of God? what have I done to end gospel poverty? I am reminded of the phrase in Mat 16:26 -  What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world,…. All the celebrations are good. All the festivities are excellent and all the holidays are delightful. But for a christian, these persuits are DO NOT define who we are. Instead the following much quoted but less obeyed ver...

Blessed Christmas

Image
We had a wonderful time in church today. Church was full. We reflected on the relevance of Christmas to this generation and I spoke on the common phrase FEAR NOT.  Even as the angels encountered those who had been directly or indirectly involved with the Nativity of Christ, this phrase was mentioned. The theme is Emmanuel - God with us. Because God is with us, we do not need to fear. I looked at four areas we often fear: Zachariah - Fear in the face of Condemnation Mary - Fear in the face of Confusion Joseph - Fear in the face of wrong Perceptions Shepherds - Fear in the face of inadequacies  Church Leaders and their wives We had good fellowship after the service and also a lot of picture taking.

Team PEC Odisha - CHristmas Celebration.

So blessed by these men and women who are taking the gospel to unreached places in Odisha. Odisha was a place where Christians were persecuted and killed. Today we are seeing an answer to the martyr’s blood. Villages are turning to Christ. Thanks to all these men and others in the harvest field. Odisha will be saved. Blessed Christmas guys.

Back Home

I finally arrived Singapore this morning at about 12:30 am. By the time I got out of the airport it was about 1:30AM. It was raining and the traffic at the airport as heavy. Jeya and Reena came to pick me up. Yesterday we drove all the way from Tangyan to Yangon and the total time on the road was 15 hrs. Pst John Phongshar thinks he is F1 driver.  We had a near miss though. W hit an on coming vehicle. Only the side mirror was hit at quite a high speed. We also saw some rebels with guns on the road from Tangyan to the mail road linking Lashio to Mandalay. But we thank God for his protection. Now at work after 3 hrs of sleep. We need help: Shadrach Home building cost $711,000. Furnishing and other will cost another $10,000. If you are reading this, please keep these requests in prayer and if you are moved by the Holy Spirit to partner, please contact me.  ramajeya03@yahoo.com.sg

Christmas Celebration at Shadrach Home

Image
It was a cold morning. There was no heater in the room but we had good blankets. The floor in the hotel was ice-cold. Everything in me was frozen. Later in the morning we had a wonderful celebration at the Home. About 27 children were present. Two of them are in Yangon Bible School and the rest had school events today. Also invited were neighbours and some government officials. One of them was a judge and another was a public prosecutor in Tangyan.  The children put up some nice songs as part of the worship segment. They sang together as a great choir. I was just mesmerised listening to them.  I shared a simple Christmas message on Why the Word became flesh (John 1:14). This was followed by a sumptuous lunch which was sponsored by Sis Vimala from PEC Singapore. The children and the guest enjoyed the meal. W also presented some gift to the children. It was indeed a blessing, not jut for the kids but for all of us present. In the afternoon, we went to ...

Trip to Tangyan, Northern Shan State- 9-13 Dec

Image
This was my last trip for the year 2019. The purpose was to firm up plans for the building of the Shadrach Home in Tangyan.  I departed on 9 Dec after my night shift at work and arrived at Yangon at about 3:30pm. Pst John Phongshar and his assistant K Phong Ram were there at the airport to receive me. The weather was pleasant.  It took us an hour to get out of Yangon to the highway that connects Yangon to Mandalay. It was a 7-8 hr drive. The weather was getting colder as wen proceeded north. All of well until we were about 8 km to Mandalay. Our  car had a burst tyre as it hit a big hole in the road. It was 12:20 am. We had to change  the tyre. The highway was deserted and dark.   Fortunately we were at a close  distance to a gas station. While changing the tyre, the jack broke. Phong ram had to go to the nearby patrol station to borrow a jack. After changing the tyre, the battery failed. The battery just   wouldn't start.   So...

Meditation on Luke 4:1-2

"Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit,  left the Jordan  and was led by the Spirit  into the wilderness,   where for forty days  he was tempted [ a ]  by the devil.  He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. ” If Jesus needed to be full of the Holy Spirit, how much more we. Paul says in Eph 5:18 - Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit (ISV). Its a continuous process , not just when we are in church or when we are praying. Jordon was where Jesus was filled glorious with the Holy Spirit with God the Father as a witness to this wonderful experience. But the Christian life is always not in Jordon. There is a wilderness that the Holy Spirit will lead us. Note it was not the devil who brought Jesus to the wilderness but the Holy Spirit. You and I will need to go through many wilderness experiences. There are times when we get closer to God, discern His will and hear...

I am sitting at the transit lounge, waiting for my final connection to Spore. The last three days were spent with Jessica in New York. We had a good time together, father-daughter bonding. I am blessed to see how God has blessed our children.  Feeling very tired due to the jet lag and still not able to sleep well. Hopefully all will be well when I get back home. Keeping fit in Manhattan Thanking God for the opportunity to be at Maui and to meet godly saints with great passion and humility.

Back at Maui again.

It has been a great experience at the Mid-Pacific Centre in Maui. I have been here at the Haggai International since last Saturday. Almost 30 senior faculty and Bible experts came together to for the Curriculum Enhancement Workshop. The purpose was to see how we can improve the curriculum more relevant for the next few years.  Some of the participants Many of us have been together facilitating sessions before and some I have heard but now meeting in person. It was a very humbling experience to be in this group of men and women who loved the Lord. All of them have done great exploits in their area of ministry but yet so humble and kind. I literally experienced heaven here.  My discussion group The knowledge, experience and the discussions were so overwhelming, that I felt very small in the midst of these great man and woman. We wept as we heard the stories of some of the participants who shared of their difficult challenges in preaching the gospel. S haring ...

Parable of the Lost son

This week I have been meditating on the passage from Luke 15:11-31. The passage of often called the "Parable of the lost son". And it's true that most of the time we focus on the younger son, whom the father describes as, " For this son of mine was dead and is alive again;  he was lost and is found.’ But there are other characters  in the same script that hold as much persuasion  as the derailed younger son.  They are: The imbecile  pharisees who were listening and murmuring. The tax collectors  and sinners who gathered around Jesus. Jesus the story teller The father The younger son The elder son The servants who obeyed the master's command While most of our concentration seems to be on the wayward younger son, there is much to be learned from the other characters as well. Everyone has a story to tell, and many lessons to be learnt. (Probably you can take it further) My meditations drew me to the older brother and I realized ...

Great time in Kuching over the weekend.

Image
I had the privilege of  facilitating Biblical Mandate to 21 participants in Kuching. This was organized by the Kuching Haggai Alumni. I took four sessions on the subject followed by a devotion on Sunday morning.  I could sense the Lord speaking to the participants on the Mandate and many responded to the Lord's Great Commission.  It was also good to see old friends and the fellowship was sweet. On Saturday evening, I was invited to a cell group By Sis Esther from Hope church where I shared by missionary journey with them. Good people and good fellowship. They were very responsive to the message. Sunday morning I had the privilege to speak at Good News Fellowship. I spoke on the topic "Press on". Great church with good people. Sunday in Kochi

Image
Sunday morning Pastor Suresh and his wife from  Thiruvananthapuram joined us for breakfast. It was indeed a joy to meet them and to hear how God is answering prayers. Both husband and wife had been going through perilous times but God has been so gracious. He who calmed the winds and the waves is sufficient for every challenges in our lives. We rejoiced in the hope we have in Christ. After breakfast we headed for Sunday service.  o Sunday morning we had the baby dedication for Anils’s 3rd child, a lovely girl. We named her Jecintha Reggina.  We had dedicated all the three children to the Lord. The service was held in a small church which belong to one of Anil’s friend who is a pastor. Pst Suresh preached the word and I concluded the message and conducted the Baby Dedication.  Anil has been like our “son” and it was a joy to see how God is blessing him in spite of the many challenges he has to go through. In the evening on the way to the airpo...

Trip to Kochi, Kerala

Image
Third weekend, I am out of the country. This time to Kochi, Kerala. Jeya is with me and that is good. This is our first trip to this place. We arrived today at about 0100 hrs. Anil was at the airport to receive us. The main purpose of the visit it to dedicate Anil's third child.  From the airport we drove about an hour to Thrissur. By the time we arrived at the hotel it was about 0230 hrs.  After a short rest , we visited Anil's home and met his wife and three children. After a quick breakfast we departed to Kapputhula, Kottiam. We were supposed to speak at a church meeting. The journey took about 4 hrs.   We arrived at IPC, Vilayancode. It was a nice church and it was filled with believers. I was told a few churches leaders have gathered for their monthly meeting and I was invited to share the Word.  I thank God for this opportunity. After the service we had a good vegetarian lunch and went to stay at a resort for the night.

His grace is sufficient

God’s grace is sufficient not just for the thorny side issues, but as Paul would say in 2 Cor 12:10 - Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become. (MSG) Take heart, His Grace is sufficient for any, even, unimaginable crisis in our lives. He will restore, He will vindicate, He will forgive.

Weekend in Subang and Klang, West Malaysia

Image
I had a great week-end in Malaysia. I was invited there by Faith City Church to speak on Biblical Mandate. My host was Bro Hin Choy, a member of this church and an alumni of Haggai. I had the privilege of staying in his house. Both He and his wife are great hosts and have sincere passion for the Great Commission. In spite of his achievements and status, this brother is very humble and a good steward of the resources God has given him. It's very difficult to find such people these days. I was humbled by his life and testimony. On Friday I spoke the the topic of "God's agenda or my agenda".   On Saturday I too four sessions on Biblical Mandate for about 40 participants. The sessions were well received.  On Sunday morning, I preached the word at HighPointe Life It was so good to be with friends   It is always a joy to be back in this church. Surprisingly Pst Rahul John and his wife (Agra) were there too. zin the words of Pst Stephen Chandran, " So good t...

Serving in the church does not mean that you are on God's agenda

The prophet Jonah did what a normal christian would be doing. He did his duty as a prophet, served in the temple and was zealous for God's name but one thing was amiss. He lost his focus and the primary purpose of being a light to the nations. We may be doing everything right in the church but could easily forget the very purpose we exist. Jonah 1:1-2 - The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.” (The Great Commission paraphrased) Be the alt and the light Fulfill the Great Commission Be a blessing to the nations

Thanks to my son Jonathan for driving me in quick time.  Bro Happy picked me up from the airport and took me for a good "nasi padang" lunch. Bro Timothy also joined us. On Sunday I spoke at three services at Gereja Kristus Yesus, Jemaat Sunter.  I was blessed to be in the church as I met some of my old friends.  I spoke on the prayer of Paul in Ephesians 3 - "God is listening" Thanking God for all the opportunities to proclaim His name. It was also good to meet HI friends, Happy and Tommy, men with great passion for the lost. Now checked in and waiting for flight to Singapore.

PAM - Dhaka

Image
For two days I attend the Pentecostal Asia Missions Consultations. For the first time I was in the company of about 200 like minded people who heart and passion was for missions. I was blessed to hear some reports on how the missions organizations are reaching the unreached peoples group. I realized that the harvest is plentiful but laborers are indeed few. We really need to pray for more workers. I had the opportunity ti share what we are doing in the mission field and the feedback was very good.  I am more resolved to do more for the kingdom after attending the conference. Praising God for all the opportunities and blessings on my life. To God be the glory.

Trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh

It has been a long day. I finished work this morning at 7:15 am. Rushed home to get my bags. Bro Rubern was waiting to take me to the airport. My departure was at 10;10am. As I left the office, I realized that I had left n=my house keys in church last night after the board meeting. If I was to go to church to pick up my keys, I will not be able to make it to the airport in time. Thank God Reena was still at home and she has not left yet to go to work. I arrived at the airport in good time. Thanks to Bro Rubern. Now I am in KL waiting for my connection to Dhaka. I am on my way to attend the Pentecostal Asia Pacific Missions Conference. I have been given a slot time to speak. I have no clue who is coming for the conference or what is the expectation. I am just trusting the Lord. Feeling sleepy after last night shift work.  This will be the 4th new country the Lord has opened for me this year, to share the Word. Honestly I feel humbled and grateful for all the opportu...

Another new work started in a remote place in Odisha
