Four church dedications on 20 May
On 20 May, we covered more than 800 KM to dedicate four new churches in AP and Telangana. We left Hyderabad at about 8AM and retuned on Sunday at 2:30AM. It was long and hectic journey under the scourging heat. Temperatures were as high as 42degC. It was so hot that Dr Mike Ong’s shoes gave way because of the heat.
But I was overjoyed to dedicate the four new churches for the glory of God. It was heartening to see the work of the church planters in many remote places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Dr Mike Ong and I took turns to share the Word to the congregations.
During the 4th church dedication it was about 7:30 PM and suddenly there were strong winds and heavy rain. The temperature dropped to a cool 23 degC. But there was lightning and thunder everywhere. Many trees were uprooted in the sudden squall and our return journey was delayed. We had to wait almost two hours for the trees to be cleared from the road. Especially as we were travelling back after dedicating the last church building one tree had just been uprooted and it fell across our path. It was total darkness everywhere but fortunately our driver was alert. Had we been there a few minutes early we could have been hit by the tree. Later we learnt that many people were killed that night due to falling trees and lightning. We thank God for his protection and mercy.
We reached Hyderabad at about 2:30 AM.
