Meeting the students of the CP training program

Image
This morning, after a short devotion with the staff, I addressed the 2 nd batch of church planters. There were 10 of them. The 11 th student was away for some assignment. The youngest is 16 years of age and the oldest 22 years old. The average age is 19 years. Most of them have studied 8 th -10 th standard. I questioned them about their intent in going through the CP program and their future plans. I also explained why we have this church planters program.

Mission Trip to Patna, India

Image
This will be my 5 th trip to Patna. This is one of the more expensive mission trips (due to my carelessness and I don’t want to bore you with the details), quite heartbreaking but yet very rewarding. There were many challenges prior to the trip and I almost wanted to cancel it. Nevertheless, I am glad that I made it. It was indeed a fruitful. It gave a better understanding of church planting in Bihar after having walked the ground and seen the results Morning tea with Rev Raji, whilst on the way to Jharkhand The objectives of the trip were as follows: 1.        Discuss church planters’ training program with our coordinator Rev Raji James in Patna   and to see the way forward for future training in Bihar. 2.        Visit church planters if time permits.

Onward to Patna, Bihar

Image
Just checked in and sitting at the Gate lounge, waiting for my departure to KL and then to India. This time to Patna, to discuss the CP training program and mission related matters. Had a different service this morning at church. We discussed the Passover as seen by the Jew and the Christian. A very moving moment for me as I conducted the service. Almost every fabric of the Passover has a direct link to the Messiah, Jesus Christ.  Jaya and I washed the feet of my mom and Sis Dhanaraj respectively. I was literally moved to tears as I washed my mom's feet. How much of pain and agony in this small frame. Yet she is a great reminder of the love of  Christ. Forgiveness, humility and service. A total commitment to the Lord In my message I noted Jesus gave new meaning to the following: The washing of hands, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples The breaking of the unleavened bread, His body was broken for us In the shedding of the lamb's blood, Jesus established...

Journey back home

Image
Last night we made our way back to Andhra Pradesh. I had one more assignment to do. Our "adopted son" Anil wanted me to dedicate his new born daughter. We travelled over night for 8 hrs before we reached Kaki Nada, We rested fir a while and went for the service. About 150 gathered for the dedication. I shared the Word and dedicated Anisha Darnia (named by Jeya). It was a joyful occasion. From there we made our way to Vizhakapatanam, 4 hrs by road. Now I have checked in and am finishing this report. Reflections: Church Planting in Odisha is challenging but rewarding. More church planters are needed and for that we need more people who'll sponsor the CP training program and support the CPs after graduation. Good people on the ground . Its so important to have good people on the ground. I thank God for Bishop Anjan, for his hard work and sacrifice for the kingdom. To facilitate their travel to supervise the church planters, w...

Filed trip to Kandamal District

Image
We visited two church planters' work in Kandamal District. Both the churches were in remote places in forested areas.  Previously most of the journey was on sand tracks but this time much of the tracks were repaired and paved with tar. So it was quite comfortable travelling. We traveled about 2 hrs from Muniguda and arrived at the first church in Sandipada. The church planter here is Pst Swadina. About 50 people gathered in a small house for the meeting. It was a good work in this distant place.  In the afternoon we visited Pst Kuntan's church in Sintupadi. The roads here were bad and we had to track the hills by motorbikes. I was humbled to see this work. It was in a very remote place and deep in the forest. Yet the couch planters have made their way there to share the gospel and many are coming to the Lord. We left the place, again on motorbikes and transferred to our car when the roads were better. Late in the...
