An hectic week

It has been a very hectic week. Everyday we had zoom sessions with our training centres in Tamil Nadu. In addition we also had a whole day seminar on 8 Sep for AP church planters/pastors. I was also involved in the evening with the VFDS program for the Haggai alumni in Malaysia. Nevertheless, God's grace was sufficient. His mercies are new every morning.

This morning I was reading Acts 2 and towards the ed of the chapter I was reminded of the devotion of the early church:

  • Acts 2:42 - They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

This was a daily affair. A daily devotion to:

  • God's Word
  • Fellowship
  • Discipleship
  • Prayer

Herein lies the secret to spiritual growth. As one indulges in deep study and meditation of the Word, as prayer becomes our daily hallmark and care and concern for the church of God (fellowship), not only does the individual grow, but the body of Christ grows as well.

I noticed that their fellowship was based on Kingdom principles. That's why they sold their possession to ensure that everyone's needs were taken care of. They realised that the things of this world were temporary and personal loss was a greater gain for the kingdom. Loving the neighbour as themselves was so very evident in this church.

And what were the consequences:

  • signs and wonders through the apostles
  • gladness of heart
  • favour of people
  • church began to grow
I believe the church began to grow because of evangelism and the lifestyle witness of the church. The people saw the drastic change in the lives of the church that attracted them.

We need to come back to first principles, all the more today as we see the day soon approaching. Love God, love people.
