Approach with confidence - Grace guaranteed

Hebrews 4:16 - Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The reason why the writer to the Hebrews is urging God's people to approaching the throne of grace with confidence is explained in the earlier two verses.

In Hebrews 4:14, the writer says that Jesus is our High Priest and has ascended to heaven. As a High Priest Jesus intercedes on our behalf.

“Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” - Hebrews 7:25

Jesus is constantly at work even in the heavens, making intercession for us. It's important to note that when we were the enemies of God, Jesus died for us (Romans 5:10). How much more now that we are the sons and daughters of God.

And don't forget that the devil is always accusing us before the throne. Revelations 12:10 For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,  who accuses them before our God day and night...

But because Jesus is interceding for us, the devil's accusations cannot stand. And Paul badly exclaims in Romans 8:34 -Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

What an assurance, no one, even the devil can condemn us, when God is on our side (Romans 8:31)

Another reason why we can come with confidence to the throne of grace is because Hebrews 4:15 says -For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Jesus totally understands our situation. He knows what temptations are. Because he was tempted in every point, He is able to understand our weakness.

However is not an excuse for us to continue sinning (Romans 6:1-2). But for the genuine child of God, who lives a life in the Spirit and totally submitted to God, the redemptive plan of God ensures that there is always a passage into the throne room, whenever we fail for us to come and find grace and obtain mercy. That's the amazing construct of the gospel message. Not only am I saved from my past, forgiven and accepted, I am assured of His continued forgiveness. My access to the throne of grace is "Not by appointment only" but an open invitation without any  restrictions and Grace guaranteed.
