Palm Sunday

Christians all over the world commemorate this Sunday to mark the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Unlike the Romans who came in their chariots, the King of glory chose to come on a donkey.

Luke 19:37-28 - When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Little did the crowd know that the same person whom the hailed as king, will be crucified on the cross the coming Friday, and many from the same crowd would cry, "Crucify Him, crucify Him".

Why the sudden change of attitude? Probably they thought Jesus will liberate them from the rule of the Romans, instead He went into the temple and chased His own people out. The Jewish leaders took advantage of this and stirred the mob to rise against Jesus.

These weeks have been filled with fear and anxiety, with the pandemic Covid19 threat. Especially so when we or our loved ones are afflicted. Only those who go though this path will understand the pain and terror that haunts one's mind. We may not rise to the crescendo of "crucify Him" but deep in our hearts, we may have lost hope, have doubts or even questioned God. I have been through this road. I guess so would you.

But over the years I have learnt that my God never males a mistake. And as Christians we can be assured that our times are in His hands. He is in total control of our lives and we have been exhorted to "Be thankful in every situation"-1 These 5:18.

Jesus is King in good times and in bad times. We know that all things work for good to them that love the Lord - Romans 8:28.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise - Hebews 10:23
