Migrant Appreciation Nite
Last Sunday we had a social event for the the Migrant Workers in Westlite Dormitory", Woodlands, Singapore. Last month Singapore celebrated our National Day n the 9th of Aug in a very grand way. God has blessed our nation with peace, prosperity and growth. And we also realize that the migrant workers have contributed to our success as a nation. They work in industries that most Singaporeans do not want to engage, eg the ship repair industry, the building segment, road repairs and clearing the garbage of our entire country.
Opening address |
Many times these workers are not appreciated. They work long hours, rain or shine. They leave their families back and some only visit them once in a few years. So I thought it will be good to let these workers know that as we celebrate our National day, we are appreciative of their contributions to Singapore's growth.
Hence as a church we organized this event in a big way. We had a politician. My Patrick Tay, Member for Parliament for West Coast GRC to be the Guest of Honour. We had songs, dances and games. We handed food, door gifts and also told many that we as are church are ready to help them if they have any needs.
Certificates for those who attended our English course |
More than 350 people attended the function. They were so grateful and so was the management of the Westlite Dormitory.
Token of appreciation for the GOH |
Thank God we can be a bossing to these people. We are praying that some will respond to our request to come to church.
