Why revival tarries

One of the books that I would recommend every Christian to read is the one written by Leonard Ravenhill, Why Revival Tarries. Every time I read this book, I get convicted, forcing me to my knees. In chapter 6, the author gives some reasons why there is no revival in churches today:

Revival tarries because:

  • Evangelism is so commercialised. The tithes of the widows and the poor are spent in luxury living by many evangelists.
  • Of cheapening the Gospel. The church is prepared to do anything, just to get anyone in. Compromise values.
  • Of carelessness. Little time is spent with those who sincerely wants to seek God.
  • Of fear. Pluralism. Being cautious of offending the sinner.
  • We lack urgency in prayer. The only power God yields to is the power of prayer. We will write about prayer-power but will not fight in prayer.
  • We steal the glory that belongs to God. My ministry, my books, my church, my.. Oh the sickening parade of the flesh.
If you can, get hold of a copy of this book.
