Weekend in Berastagi, Indonesia 🇮🇩 - Part 1

This weekend, Jonathan and I had the privilege of travelling to Berastagi to minister at Kairos Community Church (KCC). Bishop Ezra was away in Australia for ministry and had asked me to stand in for him.

This was Jonathan’s first trip to Berastagi and only the second time we have ministered together, just the two of us. It was a special opportunity not only to serve together, but also to spend time building our relationship in ministry.

I arrived in Medan on Friday night and stayed overnight. Jonathan arrived on Saturday morning. Pastor Daniel and his daughter, Hadasah, kindly picked me up from the hotel, and together we went to the airport to welcome Jonathan.

It was such a joy to see Pastor Daniel again, a man of humility, sincerity and great passion for the Lord. During our journey to Berastagi, he shared with us about his experience at the Haggai Leaders Experience in Port Dickson, which I had encouraged him to attend.

It was encouraging to hear how deeply the Haggai sessions had impacted him. He spoke about how the experience had challenged him personally and spiritually, and how God had used it to renew his vision and strengthen his desire to serve Him. It reminded me again of the value of investing in leaders—not merely to equip them with skills, but to refresh their hearts and deepen their walk with God.

We arrived at Mount Zion around noon, where Sis Semi graciously prepared lunch for us. It was a warm and welcoming beginning to our time in Berastagi. I am grateful to Pastor Janice for making all the arrangements and ensuring that everything was well coordinated.

A Night with the Youth

That evening, we had the privilege of ministering at the youth service. More than 100 young people gathered, and from the very beginning, there was a wonderful atmosphere of joy and expectancy.

The worship was lively, energetic and full of life, it was truly a youth service! Full of vibrance and action. The young people participated wholeheartedly, and it was encouraging to see their enthusiasm and hunger for God.

Jonathan then shared the Word.

For his first time ministering in Berastagi, he did remarkably well. His message was clear, biblical and impactful. More importantly, it connected with the young people. You could sense that the message was not simply being heard; it was resonating with their hearts.

At the end of the message, Pastor Daniel invited the young people to come forward for an altar call to rededicate their lives to Christ.

One by one, they came forward.

It was a beautiful sight to see young people responding to the Word and making a fresh commitment to follow Jesus. There was a sense that God was doing something deeper than simply giving them an encouraging evening. He was calling them back to Himself.

Later, several of the youth leaders shared with us how much the message had impacted them. They spoke about how the Word had addressed their lives and how they sensed the Holy Spirit ministering to them.

For me, that was one of the highlights of the evening.

When the Word is faithfully proclaimed and the Holy Spirit is given room to work, God speaks to hearts.

It was a privilege to stand together with Jonathan and serve the Lord in Berastagi. And this was only the beginning of our weekend....
