Blessed Christmas

Image
It is often said that Jesus is the reason for the Christmas celebration. And very much true.  But the real real for Christmas is "WE".  Christmas is always tied to the cross. Three scriptures amply this facts. Isaiah 53:6 - We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Ephesians 1:7 - He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. And as we  celebrate this wonderful miracle where "God became man", let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas.  The world needs to know the redeemer. May the Lord bless you and your family.

The following report is from our coordinator Bishop Anjan in Odisha. "Praise the Lord sir This is Utesi. Since last year by the grace of God & through your prayer we are privileged to celebrate Christmas in this village. This is one of the hard grounds, even though we regularly praying & sharing the gospel to this villagers get there is no fruits of our labour. Pre Christmas in an unreached village in Odisha

Image
So happy to read this report from Bishop Anjan. “Pre-Christmas celebration at Gondli village in the mountains in Odisha. Last month on 25th Nov, we have  baptised  4 people from this village & this became a big issue & the brother who is staying over there was asked to stop sharing gospel & leave the village. We had been requested to PEC Singapore church people to pray earnestly for this situation. God answered our prayer so wonderfully in helping us to continue the project work in this village. We are running a tuition centre in this village. Yesterday by the grace of God we celebrated pre-Christmas with the villagers, many of them happily joined in this program & took part of the feast too.       Till yesterday in the history of Dangriakand tribe no other team has celebrated Christmas in this way.            God has wonderfully opened way for us to reach the unreached Dangriakond tribe in R...

It's Christmas season

Image
It's the time of the year when we remember the birth of our Lord in this earth. And what better way to do it than by spreading the cheer of the good news to those who have not heard. PEC Odisha celebrated the event by hosting a  celebration  and inviting many non christians to come. Many of them attend the celebration and heard the good news.  Many song and dance items were in the program and everyone was blessed, especially with the sharing of the Word. To God be the Glory

Reece trip to Berastagi 2-5 Dec

Image
This is probably my last overseas mission trip for the year 2022. But I must say this is one of the best trips I have had in this year.  The purpose of this trip was to see the possibility of a partnership between HighPointe Life in Klang and Elim Kiros in Berastagi in starting a CP training program in Berastagi. Gaddiel  and I from PEC, together with Pst Stephen and Bro Inderjit from HighPint Life went on this trip for this venture. We rendezvoused  at Kuala Namu Airport in Medan on 2 Dec and from there took a 3 and half hour drive to Berastagi. This is my first time trying out the van ride. It was cramped and squeezy but we managed to reach our destination without any physical complication🤣. Next time we will look for other means.🤔 We were hosted by Pst Ezra and his niece Flora at Berastagi. Pst Ezra is the senior pastor of this church which has about 400 members and a number of outreach work in...

Sunday service at Abundant Life Family Church

It was my joy again to be at AFFC in Ang Mo Kio for the English Service. Senior Pastor Allan Ang has been a great inspiration. In spite of his age, he still does visitation and track distribution, something many of us have no or little experience these days. It was good to meet Pst Lydia, Pst Ang's daughter who is an excellent worship leader and musician.  We had a good service. I was blessed in sharing the Word and many lives were touched, To God be the glory.

Sunday morning service at PEC

It was my joy again to share the Word in PEC. I spoke on"By my Spirit" based on  Zachariah  4:6-9  Focused on three points: Mountain of Personal Inadequacy -  God’s Spirit is within us  will flatten  our internal mountains  Mountain of Personal impossibility -  God’s Spirit is within us   will flatten  our external mountains   Mountain of Personal Inevitability-  God’s Spirit within us  enables us to fulfil  our destiny, our purpose

Doctor of Divinity

Image
This morning I received a doctorate (Doctor of Divinity) from the  from Senate of Serampore University from CCT College Nagarjuna Sagar. My doctoral research paper was on the Great Commission. The ceremony took place at the college premises in Nagarjuna Sagar.  Thank God for His grace and favor.  I was then directed to the airport and back home on the morning of 17 Nov.

Another 2 church dedications

Image
After a heartly breakfast, we left for another church dedication. It was about 2 and a half hrs drive from our hotel.  This was a small church in Thadikalapudi station Cheemalapadu village, Khammam District. We had to rush as another church was waiting for us. The pastor here is Pst Moses. Both he and his wife have been working here for some time and God is blessing them with results. The next church dedication was about two hours away. This will be PEC’s   189 th  church building   in the mission field. This new church is in Reddigudem village in APand and is sponsored by Bro Vino and family. We are indeed thankful to the Lord for committed members in PEC who have a burden for the Great Commission.     By the time we reached the place it was about 2:30PM and the people had not taken their lunch. They had been waiting for more than three hours. Despite the long wait, they were very eager to hear the Word and they all came forward for prayer after the meetin...

Church Dedication - 187th PEC Church

Image
Today we drove about four hours to Khammam. The first meeting was a church dedication in a remote village. Although it was a working day, a reasonable number of people turned up for the dedication. Most of them were hindu converts and I was amazed to hear the testimonies of God’s mighty work in that area. Especially thankful to Bro Richard and his wife Kristine Tay for sponsoring this building. We thank God for Pst Naresk for his tireless affords in reaching out to the people in this and surrounding difficult villages. Many times, he has been threatened but he still preserved with the work. That evening we drove about two hours for our next assignment. A gospel meeting in a Thadikalapudi Station Cheemalapadu village, Khammam District. It was dark and lonely as we drove to this place. By the time we arrived at the meeting place it was about 8.30pm as we had difficulty in finding the location. More than 300 people had gathered in that open space, surrounded by trees. It was cool weather ...

Sunday Service at Rasoolpura

Image
Today I joined the Sunday morning service, and it was indeed a wonderful experience to worship God together with these simple people. I spoke on “Discerning the Times’ highlighting the importance of taking the gospel to the ends of the Indian states.

Pastors' meeting and special rally

Image
This morning we had the pastors’ seminar in Rasoolpura. More than 50 pastors gathered for the seminar.  It was good to see many familiar faces. I shared on David’s mighty men from 2 Samuel 23.   That evening was a special meeting organized by our sister church in Rasoolpura. Every year the church conducts 100 days of fasting and prayer where the believers gather in homes every day for prayer. The climax of the intercession is the mass rally held in an auditorium, Hari Hara kalabhavan, Secunderabad, near the Rasoolpura Metro station. More than 500 people had gathered for the meeting and it was a wonderful time of celebration and worship.

Trip to India 11-17 Nov

Image
This was a short but fully packed trip. I went alone on this trip.  Testimony   I arrived on schedule on 11 Nov at the RGIA in Hyderabad. I thought that since I had no checked in luggage, this will be a quick exit. However, I was stuck at the immigrations for almost two hours. The immigration officer claimed that my visa had expired. If you remember, my passport is new, and the visa was issued against the old passport. I was ushered to a special room, and I explained to the immigration officers that I was allowed to India on the same passport in Oct. They were not convinced and some of the officers were arrogant and defiant. I kept my cool. In the meantime, I alerted Bishop Nehemiah to pray as he was waiting at the arrival hall.    Finally, a senior officer from the immigration department emerged from the inner office. He was very polite and well-mannered compared to his subordinates. He said he will let me in this time but next time “bring your old passport”. What a...

Hectic Sunday but worth the while

Today I had two preaching assignments. My first service was the Charismatic church of Singapore. it was good to be back again after the Covid restrictions and I thank the Lord for the opportunity to share the Word. Good to see some familiar faces. In the afternoon I was His Arrow Church. They have moved to a new premises near Bishan. Pst Aow and his wife were away on a mission trip and I was hosted by their son Johanan. We had a good service and many came forward for prayer. Thanking God for all the opportunities to serve Him.

Weekend at Highpointe Life in Klang

Image
This is a church that Jeya and I always looked forward going to in Malaysia. Over the years we have become very close to the leaders and members and of this church and have partnered many projects in the Mission field.  We spent this weekend in Klang with Pst Stephen Mohan,  senior pastor of Highpointe Life,  and his dear wife Flora. This time we decided to go one day in advance so as to avoid the holiday crowd. It was a wise decision. Saturday's crowd at the immigrations check point on both sides was simply crazy with human traffic.  We took a bus from Lakin Bus Terminal. The journey took us more than 5 hrs due to heavy traffic along the way, especially at Seremban area, where the bus was crawling at snail's speed. Pst Mohan and Flora were waiting for us at TBS and it was a great joy to meet them. Over the years we have been frequent  at Pst Mohan's place, so much so we have become like family. I met Pst Mohan in Maui in 2011 and the rest was history....

Nostalgic trip to Jasin, Melaka.

Image
Last weekend Jeya and I were in Jasin, Melaka. The last time I was there was when I was a kid. My grandmother came from there and we had some relatives there at that time. I can't remember any of the places, except that they were using the "hole in the ground" for toilets. I suffered by not going to the so called toilets. This time we were invited by Rev Abraham Vakaran, Senior Pastor of Glorious Life Assembly of God to minster to the church. I got acquainted with Pst Abraham through sister Evelyn Tan, when we met in Medan for a series of meetings. Sis Evelyn has been instrumental in many of our connections. She is one person who is totally sold out for the Lord and His cause.  Pst Abraham is a gentle and humble man of God. Both he and his wife Ruth are totally committed to the Great Commission and the Kingdom of God. We were amazed by their testimonies in ministry for the Lord and how they had laboured as m...

2nd batch Graduation in Nepal

Image
Today was another day of  rejoicing  as we see the  graduation  of this batch of newly minted  church  planters. These  students have undergone 4 months of training. Many of the lessons were conducted via zoom from Singapore and NE India. I took the subject of the Great Commission with this batch. They are intelligent and with a heart to learn. They had many questions and I can sense the hunger and thirst after righteousness. They will be going out to plant churches in the places where the Lord will send them. We are indeed grateful to Dr Mike Ong, founder Peace Child Ministry for this partnership in reaching out to the unreached villages in Nepal. I am indeed thankful to the Lord for the sponsors and the facilitators for their love and patience in training these church planters.

Weekend at Berastagi, 8-10 Oct

Image
I arrived Medan at about 1530 hrs. This is my first trip to Medan after the pandemic . Pst Ezra from Elim Kairos Community Church, a good friend of mine has been asking me to come to preach at his place. By the time I reached Pst Ezra's home it was 11:00pm. As it was a holiday there was a hinge traffic jam all the way to Berastagi Pst Ezra came to Singapore in the late 80's do study in a Bible School. During that time  he was affiliated  with PEC. After his  training he went back to Berastagi to plant a church under the sponsorship of Salem Chapel, Singapore. I remember   visiting  him in Berastagi, together with a team from PEC, the mid 80's. At that time he was only having  a small cell group in his home. It was  from a humble beginning  he started the ministry, but this man was persistent and faithful. I was amazed to see the work done by Pst Ezra. He has a huge church  building, a nice home. a children's  Home/office and a sch...

Pastors' conference PD - 3-4 Oct

Image
A new initiative by Haggai Alumni, Malaysia to reach out to pastors on what Haggai can do for the churches in Malaysia. At first I said no to the invitation as I had a packed schedule for the month. But Pst Daniel Ho, the executive director for Haggai Malaysia, was so insistent that I relented. But I was glad that I made it to the this conference. It was such a blessing for me. 51 pastors from all over  Malaysia attended the conference. I took the sessions on the Biblical Emphasis on the Commission. I was thinking and praying much in what to share, as all these pastors are experts on the subject themselves. I thought that there was nothing much I could add to their memory bank. Many of them have been zealous for the Lord and have been working very hard in the field. But I senses that many of them needed encouragement more than anything else, I was told that about 400 churches ad closed down during the Covid 19 period due to the various challenges. Such news is h...

Image
The last day of our official program for the trip. It began with the graduation service. Two different groups were graduating today:  (i) 15th Graduation Ceremony for the School of Ministry for 14 church planters who had undergone 9 months of church planters course and after the graduation they will go out to plant new churches in remote places. We thank God for all the faculty who were involved in training these church planters.  (ii) 1st Graduation of Skills Development Programme - Basic Tailoring Training for 12 ladies some of who are single parents. This is the first course conducted here in Jaigon , a partnership between PEC and Teach the Word to the Nations.  We thank God for Bishop Samuel for this initiative and for undertaking so many responsibilities to see that the lost are reached with the gospel.
