Trip to Assam
We had a long day today. It was a field trip
to Assam. We left Jaigaon at about 7 am. The first stop was at a village
called Bamonijhora and it was for a church dedication.
Before the church dedication we had a baptism
service for two new converts. It was a long walk through a field which was
littered with dung from animals and humans. And the light rain made the
terrain wet and slippery. The water in the pond was dark and the ground felt
like “quick mud”. Two people took water baptism that day.
More than 100 people turned up for the church
dedication. Pst Alphine is our church planter here and majority of the people
speak a language called Santil.
This is PEC’s 127th church building. Its
only he Lord’s doing.
After the church dedication we went to visit
PEC Rimona which was an hour’s drive away. We had a simple service there and
Bro George shared the Word. It was good to see the people who turned up
in spite of the election season and it was also a working day.
On the way back to Jaigaon we visited an old
friend Bro Satyendra in Alipoor. I first met Satyendra when he was a participant in Maui in 2010. It was good to meet him and his family. We
were blessed to hear about his ministry in Bangladesh and in West
Bengal. Many churches have been planted in remote places. The HI experience has really impacted this brother. Praise God. They served us a
sumptuous dinner for which was indeed satisfying.
Quite tired by the time we reached Jaigaon.
