Trip to Assam

With church planters and their families

This morning we left Jaigaon for Assam, a three hr drive. We witnessed God's control over our affairs  in a special way today. It was raining when we left, but five minutes into the journey the weather cleared and it was a smooth drive all the way.

We  arrived at this remote village Pahtha Dhupi, were our church planter Arvin is pastoring a church. We dedicated a church building in 2012. We we welcomed with song and fanfare and treated like VIPs. We were humbled when the village folks honored us by washing our feet. We have seen true Christian hospitality and humility in these days, and this village Christians were no exception.

More than 150 people gathered for the meeting under a tent as the church was too small to contain all of them. The church presented songs and dances for us. Sis Josephine shared the Word and many responded to the message.

At the end of the service, Pst Arvin collected the offering, but it in a bundled and handed  over to me as a gift from the church. My team and I were spellbound. This is the first time in my life in the mission field, where a church collects an offering and hands over to me. What was heartwarming was that this are poor people with hardly any education but with such love and passion for the Lord. How so much like the Mecedonian Church. I was simply overwhelmed and moved to tears and so was my mission team. To God be the glory. We left the place overjoyed.

Along the way, one of the tyre of our vehicle punctured. But we misplaced the tools. But God was so good. The vehicle stopped at a strategic place where many vehicles were parked. Some drivers came and helped us to change the tyre. We just could not imagine if the vehicle had stopped at a lonely place. Again we saw how God was in control over every situation.

God is indeed awesome.
