Doing not just talking
Yesterday was a busy day. After night shift work, went to church. Then to Changi Hospital with Alvin to visit Rev Patrick Lau. He suffered a mid heart-attack but he's ok. Had some good discussion with him and he provided some useful insights as well. He has a heart for PEC. He has heard all that has happened.Very grateful for such men of God.
One of the things we talked is that in the churches today, people are so keen in getting trained and others on training others. What about the foot-soldiers who actually do the job on the ground? Very few. And we pat ourselves on our backs saying we have done this course and that, we have trained so many,,,ect. But actually reaching out to the lost...that's a big question. But isn't all our training and being trained, focused to doing just that - Reaching the lost? We come to a situation where we have too many generals but few foot-soldiers.
James 1:22 - But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
We also talked about how christians go on mission trips, just for the "feel-good" factor. "I have done that, been there". But no real commitment to see people getting saved or churches established. They just like to go preaching in one church to another, claiming that God's call for them. ..No comments.!!! Well that was me too many years ago. No real purpose of vision. Just shooting from the hips, thinking we are doing God a favour.
We need to be intentional. Do things with a purpose or goal. For that we need a God given vision. Then work out the strategies in prayer and seek partners will will come along to partner. Take action and see the Lord bring in the results.
God willing with this friend, we are looking at starting the new training centre in Assam. Train church planters on a six months course, sent them out to the filed and in the three years, with the ell of the Holy Spirit, see a church planting movement in Assam. What's stopping us? Resources. Please pray.
The the last appointment in the day was meeting a church member who had some questions about the church. Good meeting and happy to see PECans wanting to move forward. We finished almost midnight. What a day.
