Matriculation seminar for pastors

Image
Yesterday I conducted a seminar for about 120 pastors from the AOG community. This is an annual program to bring these leaders together for a time of update and edification. I took three session on leadership based on Equip program and also shared my experience  in missions and evangelism. Truly thankful for this opportunity. Interpreted  by Pst Mario, son-in-lad of of Pst Stefano. A fine young man with great sense of humour.  A section of the participants

Trip to Jakarta, Indoneisa

Image
This is my first trip to Jakarta. I was invited by an ex-HI slum, Pst Stefano, to come and conduct matriculation training for AOG pastors in Jakarta. In the process he also arranged for me to speak in some local churches. Pst Stefano and his wife Liva attend the couples session in Maui in Oct 2012. He is currently the District Secretary for AOG in Jakarta. I had the privilege of relaxing at the Wellness Oasis in Terminal 1 before departure. Good food and spa as well. Thanks to my dear friend Ncik who owns this place. Nick, together with Steven Tan, supports our work in Charttisgarh. Praise God or such wonderful people. I was met at the airport by Pst Stefano.It was a joy to meet him after two years and to exchange the good things the Lord is doing in our lives.  That night I was surprised by a call from Agus. He is a fellow faculty in Haggai, A great brother, truly humble and has a sincere passion for the Lord. He took me out for a late dinner as he is ou...

The two seas - A spiritual perspective

Image
Dead Sea I got this from a friend on Watsapp. Worth reading A tale of Two Seas !As you probably recall, the Dead Sea is really a Lake, not a sea. It’s so high in salt content that the human body can float easily. You can almost lie down and read a book! The salt in the Dead Sea is as high as 35% - almost 10 times the normal ocean water. And all that saltiness has meant that there is no life at all in the Dead Sea. No fish. No vegetation. No sea animals. Nothing lives in the Dead Sea.  And hence the name: Dead Sea. The other Sea is the Sea of Galilee. Turns out that the Sea of Galilee is just north of the Dead Sea. Both the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea receive their water from river Jordan. And yet, they are very, very different. Sea of Galilee Unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee is pretty, resplendent with rich, colorful marine life. There are lots of plants. And lots of fish too. In fact, the Sea of Galilee is home to over twenty different types of f...

Sunday morning service at Igreja Batista do Povo on 15 Feb

Image
Sunday morning second service at Lgreja Baptista do Pavo I had the privilege to speak at two morning services at the  Igreja Batista do Povo. Both services were packed and I spoke on the subject of "living on God's agenda". I was blessed and so were the people.  I strongly believe that this church will never be the same again and I gave them the word the Lord placed on my heart for them: Isaiah 54:1-3. The senior pastor, Pst Jonas, is the most humble person I have met in my life. Humility with grace. Isaiah 54:1-3 - “Sing, barren woman,
 you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
 you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
 than of her who has a husband,”
says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent,
 stretch your tent curtains wide,
   do not hold back;
 lengthen your cords,
 strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
 your descendants will dispo...

Ministry in Sao Paulo

Image
Yesterday morning I was invited to speak at a Christian fellowship in a company owned by one of the members of Igreja Baptista de Povo. I was amazed at the testimony of this man who rose from rags to riches purely by the grace ofGod and his involvement in the kingdom.  He has about 80 employees working his business  for him and basically deals with shoes and clothes. Every friday he conducts a gathering for his staff who are keen to listen to God's word. His heart and passion for the Lord is amazing About 20 people came for the meetings and I shared on how to be a good employee in the secular world, taking the scriptures from Eph 6. Later we were treated to a good breakfast by the owner and his wife and he recounted how God led and blessed him over the years. Amazing testimony. Later in the afternoon, I and the other speaker of the seminar, Pst Vasale from Moldova, spoke to the church leadership on our experiences in the various ministries we are doing. Pst Vasa...

Arived Sao Paulo

Image
I arrived Sao Paulo last night (8.15PM on 11 Feb, Brazilian time).  More than 30 hrs in flight and transit. I won't say I am tired as I had the whole row empty in flight and was able to stretch on completely. Bro Alex and a pas or from his church were at the airport to reeve me. It was indeed a joy to meet Alex who is the Administrator of Igreja Baptista do Povo. This is the church that had invited me for their Annual Church Conference. The theme for the conference is Evangelism. Jet lag as usual.  Today is rest and meeting with the senior Pastor for dinner. Got the first glimpse of Sao Paulo from my hotel room. Wished Jeya was here.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Trip to São Paulo, Brazil.

In the midst of accusations

If you are a leader, you will undoubtedly face accusations of some sort. Usually they are wrong, that's why they are called accusations.  If you have been in leadership for quite a while, you would have known that accusations that come from the emery's camp, don't pose that much of threat or pain. What is excruciating, is when the complaints arise from within, especially from those whom you call friends. That is killing, because accusations eventually becomes betrayal .  Even Jesus was betrayed by one of his inner circle disciples, Judas Iscariot. If the master went through that path, is it any exception that we his servants would be exempted of such? Joseph was a good example of a man who was faced with unfounded accusations. But it was not the accusations that made him stand out, but the way he responded to them than shone through. Of course the man in the will will resort to civil suits, arguments and retaliations of different sorts But how should a Christia...

The lad whom God used - John 6:1-14

Image
January is gone and we are into February.  Another reminder that time waits for no man. The prudent makes hay while it still shines. Christians need to do all we can to see the gospel gets to the unreached as we see the day approaching. In John 6:1-14 , we read the familiar story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. God used a little lad to feed the five thousand. I was meditating on this last week and a few the Holy Spirit reminded  me of the following thoughts: This boy came prepared to hear Jesus. You see he came prepared with his lunch. That means he was prepared to stay the whole day with Jesus and he did not want hunger to be a distraction. Hence he five loaves and the two fishes for himself, may to ear it even for dinner. A little boy at that age, found Jesus so fascinating, that he was prepared to hear him the whole day. Sometimes in our busy lifestyles, we hardly have any time to read God's word, let alone, hear what the Spirit has to say. Our cell phon...
