Invest where the returns are the highest

Luke 15:7 - I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Its quite interesting to see how people invest their money. Good economic sense will tell us to put the money where the returns are the most secured and highest. Nevertheless even the most experienced stockbroker cannot give you a hundred percent assurance that what is invested in a particular counter in the market will certainly be always in the black territory. There are inherent risks involved.

But sadly the trend has filtered down into today's modern churches as well. Millions are spent on buildings, furnishing, celebrations and the likes. All these at a depreciating cost.Yes these may be important provided they are balanced with with is important and what is necessary. Expenditure on the temporary without due investment in the eternal is bad in every sense.

But Jesus in Mathew 6:19-21 - showed that there is one place that guarantees 100 percent dividends."Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

When we invest in evangelism and missions, we are storing our treasure in heaven. Furthermore the Bible tells us that when a sinner repents, the whole of heaven rejoices. No other activity or event, including our "awesome worship services", our multitude of conferences, produces such a similar fanfare in heaven.
"The only event on earth that causes the whole of heaven to rejoice is when one sinner repents. All other events, no matter how exuberant and awesome, are a pale comparison. Shouldn't we then invest where the returns are the most yielding?"
