In meditation
Prov 14:12 - There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
There are always many options we face in life, many people we meet and many things to choose from. They all seem right in their own ways. This is especially so when some one wants to invest in the stock market and get carried away by the promised returns, but not realizing the risks involved. It can also be in choosing the right partner, the right career, the right friends, the right investments and so on. Usually the ones that are very attractive may not be the one God intends us to choose. Proverbs warns us that the danger in choosing the wrong way is that it may end up in "death"
Samuel was a case in point. He wanted to choose a king to replace Saul. He goes to the house of Jesse as directed by the Lord. He was tempted to choose the first few. But God intervened and said in 1 Sam 16:7 - man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. You see Samuel was under God's direction in going to the right house. But he still needed to be under God's direction even in making the right choice as to the candidate. Just because we started in God's way does not mean we will end in God's way. There needs to be a constant seeking for direction and discretion all through the journey.
Outward appearances can be a deception. We need the divine discernment to
see through the deceptive disposition and do what is discreet in God's direction.
