Praise Evangelical Church - Golden Jubilee

Chairman's message

Today we celebrate fifty years of God’s faithfulness to Praise Evangelical Church. I am reminded of what King David said in Psalms 117:2 - “For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.” As I look back over the years, I can truly testify that God’s love towards Praise Evangelical Church has indeed been great. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.”

Today’s celebration brings three precious groups of people to my mind.

Firstly, the missionaries who paid the price. I am reminded of Sis Rasi, Sis Kolka and the rest who dedicated their lives to fulfill the Great Commission in this part of the world. Like Moses, they too “chose to be mistreated along with the people of God”, “regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt” and “persevered because they saw Him who is invisible.” (Heb 11:25-27). They served with a driving passion to fulfill the vision God had given to them. Indeed they conquered for Christ and we are forever indebted to them

Secondly the many people who had invested their time, talent and treasure in Praise Evangelical Church and had moved on for various reasons. There are too many such people to name them individually. We thank God for every one of them and may God bless them for their valuable contributions to Praise Evangelical Church. In this category is also included the many servants of God who had a part to play in the nurturing of the people in this church. Like Paul said, “I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow”.  They watered and saw the spiritual growth of many.

Finally, we thank God for the many who stayed behind, weathered the storm and the winds and with joy celebrate this day.

Most importantly we thank God, without whom we would not have survived all these years. He has not let us down and we believe that great things are in store for Praise Evangelical Church. He will see us through and together with Paul, we can say, “ I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.” 2 Tim 1:12).

To God be the Glory.
