Sunday Morning Service - 13 Jul

I shared on the following:

Faithful Stewardship
Text: 1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Peter's purpose in writing of 1 Peter
  • To encourage those facing persecution to stand firm
  • To encourage readers to live the transformed life after becoming a christian
  • The inform readers of the urgency of the times
The same themes appear in Chapter 4:

verses 1-6 - Stop living the life of the past and stop wasting time
verse 7a - The end of all things is near

Therefore:

verse 7b - Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray
verse 8 - Love each other deepl
verse 9 - Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
verse 10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Peter makes four propositions in verse 10:
  • Every one has a gift according to God's grace in its various forms
  • Everyone is a steward of that gift
  • Everyone is to use the gift to serve others
  • Everyone is required to be a faithful steward
Every one has a gift according to God's grace in its various forms

1. Everyone ha a gift
  • 1 Tim 4:14
  • 1 Cor 12:6
  • Roms 12:4-6
2. Its according to God's grace
  • Every one's gift is different
  • Its God who gives
  • We don;t deserve it
  • There is no room for comparison
3. What are the gifts available?
  • 1 Cor 12:8-11
  • 1 Cor 12:27-28
  • Roms 12:6-8
  • Eph 4:11-12
4. How to know my gift
  • Pray - Ask the giver of gifts. Mathew 7:7
  • Examine you desires - what do you really like to do
  • Examine what others tell you about your gifting
  • Examine the opportunities
Only managed to share on the first point. God willing hope to share the remaining three on a later date.
