Destined for Greater Things - Part 2

In Luke 5:1-11, we read about one of Jesus’ first contact with Simon. Simon was just an ordinary fisherman. His whole life was just centered around his boat. Imagine Sunday to Friday his schedule would have been as follows: Fishing in the night , washing his nets and selling the fishes in the morning and sleeping in the noon. Probably on Sabbath, he being a Jew, would have attended morning service and if he had television at home, he would have spent the evenings watching the latest news. How every similar to the lives of many church goers today. Yet when Jesus came into Simon's boat, into Simon's life he turned his life upside down:

Peter’s life:

  • From the ordinary to the extraordinary
  • From a fisherman to fishers of men
  • From a fisherman to a ruler
  • From a nobody to a man who turned the world upside down
  • He was destined for the throne.
  • You and I are destined for the throne
1 Peter 2:9-19: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not God's people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Application
  • Your life can be changed
  • You can impact the people around you.
  • Eph 2:10 - For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

These happens when Jesus comes into your boat and takes the centre stage.
