Conform v Transform

Romans 12:1-2 - Therefore, I urge you,  brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,  holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.   2  Do not conform  to the pattern of this world,  but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing  and perfect will. There is a lot of pressure these days to confirm to the norms of society. The clothes we wear, the way we look and the things we do are very often a moulding as a result of the hot  pressures of the environment. These are the external factors that force us to be what is acceptable to the mainstream society. The sad thing is we don't realise it our selves. These days, with Trump winning the presidential elections, there's a lot of debate on social media as to why and how he won. Of course, I am not discarding the fact that God is ...

The way of the cross and JS - A painful reflection

One of the most painful events in the life  of Jesus going to the cross was the moment when Judas, his disciple and confidante, betrayed Him At the last supper, Jesus said of Judas, in John 13:18 -  "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: 'He who shared my bread has turned against me.' Jesus was quoting a verse from the Psalms. Psalms 41:9 - Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me. Did David also go through a similar incident? One commentary comments that " The words of the Psalm are not a direct prediction, but the treachery and the fate of Ahithophel foreshadowed the treachery and the fate of Judas. What saints of old time had suffered by the desertion of friends must be suffered with an aggravated bitterness by the Son of Man." Is the Lord taking me  through  a  journey, a lesson that I need to learn?  or is this an...

Formula for successful living

Image
On Sunday morning and evening, based on the promise verse of Proverbs 3:6 , I shared on the formula for successful living: 1.   Know your prioritie s - In all your ways 2.   What are your values - submit to God (Kingdom principles) 3.   Results are guaranteed - He will make your path straight. The same formula is repeated  in Mathew 6:33 and Col 3:1-3. Our priorities stem from our values and its so important that our values are based on the Kingdom of God and not on the Kingdom of they world. Values of the World's kingdom Pleasure Possessions Position Its based on SELF Values of God's Kingdom Love God Love your neighbour Its based on GOD. SELF does not exist. Quote of the day :    Pleasure in itself is not wrong. But when pleasure transcends the boundaries of need and courts the realms of want and greed, to the degree where the line between pleasing God and appeasing self disappears,   I think we may be threading in...

Promise verse for Nov 16

Proverbs 3:6 -  in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. This morning we gathered in church at 6 AM for prayer as usual on the first day of the month. Today we had the higest number of attendees for a early morning pryaer. I shared on the word how God will make the crooked paths straight and even make a way when there seems no other way. When we submit to God is all our ways, He will make our paths straight.

Its still the most important job

Saving souls for the Kingdom of God. It was heart warming to see the pictures of people getting baptized in Odisha, especially from the districts of Rayagada and Khandamal. Khandamal was the place which witnessed violent persecution of Christians some years ago.  Today PEC Church planters are moving in to the same places to preach the gospel.  The blood of the martyrs are never wasted. They cry out to God, not for distraction but for the salvation of the souls.  Christians all around the world should wake up, see the need for global evangelizing and the need to reach the unreached. I am of the opinion that all the prophetic conferences, and many of that nature, are a distraction to keep Christians focused on the main thing, "The Great Commission". Think about it. Resources should be channelled correctly to where the need is most. If only all the money used for unnecessary conferences, alumni get together-and meetings necessary for feel good emotions, I th...

Special outing for the migrant workers.

Image
Today Bro Rubern and Bro Inbaraj, together with some volunteers, organised an outing for the migrant workers who have been attending out free English classes at the Cocharne Dormitory. Although it was raining most of the morning, we had  good time of games, fund and food. The event was held at the Sembawang park.  This is one way PEC reaches out to the migrant workers who contribute much to the economy and well being of Singapore. By these means we shoe them the love of Jesus. Thanks all for the support and prayers.
