Prayer and blessing for Angel and Dinesh
This evening, we had the joy of attending a prayer gathering held in preparation for the wedding of Angel and Dinesh, who will be getting married in early September.
The gathering was attended by about 40 close friends and family members—people who are especially connected to Angel and whom she wanted around her to pray for her and Dinesh before their big day.
It was wonderful to see many dear friends whom I had not met for some time. The evening was simple, meaningful, and filled with joy, laughter, prayer, and good fellowship.
I had the privilege of sharing from John 2—the wedding at Cana. It is interesting that Jesus chose a wedding celebration as the setting for His first recorded miracle. It reminds us that Jesus is not only interested in the spiritual moments of our lives; He wants to be part of our celebrations, our relationships, our homes, and our marriages.
I shared four simple but important principles:
Jesus was invited to the wedding at Cana. A Christ-centred marriage begins by inviting Jesus in—not merely into the wedding ceremony, but into the marriage itself.
Don't make Jesus a guest whom you invite occasionally. Make Him the Lord of your marriage. Invite Him into your decisions, your plans, your joys, and even your challenges.
At Cana, the wine ran out. What began as a joyful celebration suddenly faced a crisis.
Every marriage will have moments when the “wine runs out”—when patience runs out, finances become difficult, communication breaks down, expectations are disappointed, or strength seems to disappear.
Mary's words are still relevant: “Do whatever He tells you.”
When you don't know what to do, turn to Jesus. When you have run out of answers, listen to Him. When you face a crisis, don't run away from Him—run to Him.
The miracle reminds us that with Jesus, the best is not necessarily behind us. The Lord can continue to bring something beautiful out of every season of marriage.
Marriage is not simply about having a wonderful wedding day. It is about walking together for a lifetime.
There will be seasons of excitement, seasons of adjustment, seasons of difficulty, and seasons of blessing. But when Jesus is at the centre, He can take us from one season to another and continue to make the journey meaningful.
Don't just invite Jesus to your wedding. Walk with Jesus throughout your marriage.
The miracle at Cana was not ultimately about the wine. It was about Jesus revealing His glory.
That should also be the purpose of a Christian marriage.
A Christ-centred marriage should become a testimony of God's grace, faithfulness, forgiveness, love, and transforming power.
May people look at Angel and Dinesh's marriage and not simply say, “What a beautiful couple,” but ultimately say, “What a wonderful God!”
As they begin this new chapter together, our prayer is that Jesus will always have the central place in their home—that He will guide them in every decision, strengthen them in every difficulty, and fill their home with His love and joy.
We concluded the evening by praying for Angel and Dinesh, committing their lives, their marriage, and their future into God's hands.
It was a beautiful evening of prayer, fellowship, laughter, and anticipation as we prepare to celebrate their wedding in September.
Angel and Dinesh, may Jesus be more than a guest at your wedding. May He be the Lord of your marriage, the centre of your home, and the One whose glory is revealed through your lives together.
“Whatever He tells you, do it.” — John 2:5
