Kairos Cornerstone Community
Today, I had the privilege of attending the 40th anniversary celebration of Kairos Cornerstone Community—a truly significant milestone in the life of Bishop Ezra and Pst Janice's ministry. The sanctuary was filled with over 600 people, all gathered to honor and give thanks for four decades of God’s unwavering faithfulness and abounding grace.
Though the service was long, it was deeply meaningful—rich with reflection, joy, and gratitude. What began as a small seed of obedience and vision has grown into a thriving and fruitful work for the Kingdom.
Bishop Ezra and his wife Pastor Janice, who faithfully obeyed the call of God to plant this church 40 years ago, now witness the harvest of their labor:
— a strong, growing congregation
— a vibrant church impacting generations
— a children’s home, a school, and numerous ministries that serve the community and beyond.
Their legacy is a testament to the enduring power of faith, sacrifice, and steadfast devotion to God’s calling. Truly, this celebration is not only about a church—it is about a story of God’s hand at work through surrendered lives. To Him be all the glory.
The speaker was Apostle Lawrence Kong from FCBC Singapore. He shared a powerful Word on Unity the Key to Revival.
I was asked to share a few words on Bishop Ezra and the following was what I said.
"It is indeed my joy an honour to be here for you 40th anniversary celebrations. And what a celebration it has been. We witnessed the powerful presence of God and thanks to Aspotle Lawrence Kong for the powerful Word.
Over the years many of you in this church have become like our family because of the love and fellowship you have showed to me and my wife.
I am grateful to Bishop Ezra and Pastor Janice for this wonderful partnership that we have had all these years. Over the years whenever Bishop Ezra comes to Spore, we always make it a point to meet for coffee, to discuss family life and matters pertaining to the kingdom. Pst Janice wife meets up my wife and they have their own ladies discussions. And we have become more than family.
Bishop Ezra is a man of humility and great vision and I say this from the bottom of my heart.
My first contact with Bishop Ezra was in the mid 1980s. Many of you were not even born then. He came to study in the Bible School in Singapore. He was in his mid 20’s and he sometimes attended my church during the weekend. We used to call him Ahboy. I was a youth leader then and i invited Ahboy to share in in our church camp to our youths. And his reply, Saya tak thahu chapak English. But I said never mind, just try la. But when he started to speak, I was like, why did I ask him to speak. Because he ended up preaching in Bahasa Indinesia which none of us understood. After his training, he retuned to Medan, and then came to Berastagi to plant a church because of God’s call. In those there was hardly and Pentecostal church in Berasatigi. Many people had tried and failed.
In fact one person told him. I give you 6 months and you will be out of Berastagi. But more than 40 years has passed and he is still here to the glory of God.
So in the early days, I visited him together with a team from Spore. Hr was staying in a small rented house. I was told it was a haunted house and two people had died there. We stayed in the house with him. There was no water heater in the house and he forced us to take cold shower at 15 deg
There were onky about 10 people in the church and they all set on the floor. I was thinking to myself, this man cannot make la. But this man, was faithful , he persisted and endured all the challenges.
Many people came against him. He was kicked out of his church, threatened with law suits. Today the Lord has blessed him and the ministry. The fruits of his labour speaks for itsself. I should one day sit with his two sons and tell them of the sacrifices and challenges their father had gone through for the sake of the Kingdom.
As I reflect on your 40th anniversary, the Lord brought this verse to my heart:
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” — 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NIV)
This verse is more than just Scripture—it is a mirror of your journey. Your life, and the life of Pastor Janice, are living testimonies of God’s extraordinary power to use what the world might overlook or dismiss, and to turn it into something beautiful, powerful, and transformative. Through seasons of challenge and triumph, your obedience and humility have allowed God to work wonders—not just in your own lives, but in the lives of all who have been blessed by your ministry.
I’ve learned through your example never to underestimate anyone or anything placed in the hands of God. Just as five loaves and two fish fed thousands when surrendered to Jesus, so too has your surrender fed multitudes—spiritually, emotionally, and practically.
God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called—and your lives are a powerful reminder of that truth. As you celebrate 40 years of ministry and faithfulness, I am reminded of another promise:
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…” — Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)
This anniversary is not a conclusion—it’s a milestone. A marker of God’s grace, and a reminder that His plans for you are not finished. There is more ahead—more lives to be touched, more miracles to witness, more testimonies to be written. Your journey is not over.
The best is yet to come.
May the next chapter be filled with greater fruitfulness, deeper joy, and even more of His glory revealed through your lives.
