His plans for me – Proven - Part 2
Psalms 138:8 …. for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
In the last devotion, we reflected on the beautiful truth that God’s plans for us are both good and personal. He doesn’t deal with us in general terms or treat us as just another face in the crowd. Rather, the God who created the heavens knows each of us intimately and has uniquely designed a purpose-filled plan for our lives. His intentions are not random or cold—they are shaped by His perfect wisdom and deep love. This brings great comfort: we are not drifting aimlessly, but are being led by a personal God who desires our good, even when the path is unclear. It captures the idea that God’s plans are trustworthy, reliable, and time-tested. They are proven truths.
Why would God fulfil His plan for us? How can we trust Him?. The psalmist gives two important reasons. His faithfulness and His love which endures forever.
When we face uncertainty about our future or the unfolding of God’s plans in our lives, we might wonder: Why would God fulfil His plans for me? And how can I trust Him?
The psalmist gives us two fundamental reasons to answer these questions: God’s love and God’s faithfulness.
God loves Us—Why?
For God so loved the world, He gave…. God’s love is not based on our performance, achievements, or worthiness. It is unfailing, unconditional, and rooted in His character. Scripture reminds us that God is love (1 John 4:8), meaning He loves because it is who He is, not because of anything we do. His love for us is eternal, sacrificial, and personal. He loves us in spite of the fact we were sinners, ungodly and enemies (Romans 5:6,8,10). This love is the foundation of all His plans for us. When we understand that we are deeply loved by God, we can rest in the truth that His plans are always for our good, even when we can’t see the entire picture.
“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but My steadfast love shall not depart from you…” — Isaiah 54:10
And even now, through every fear, failure, and moment of doubt, His love remains constant. It is not only enduring—it is deeply personal. That love undergirds every plan He has for us.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” — Jeremiah 31:3
God is Faithful
God’s faithfulness assures us that He will never fail to keep His promises. Unlike humans, who may falter or forget, God’s word never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Whatever God says, He will fulfil. His plans for us are not tentative or subject to change. His faithfulness is not bound by our circumstances or failures—He remains constant, true to His Word.
“Great is Your faithfulness. I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever…” — Lamentations 3:23–24
When God speaks, He acts. He fulfils what He promises, working all things together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).
Why we can trust Him
Because of God's unfailing love and His unchanging faithfulness, we can confidently trust Him to work out His perfect plans for our lives. His plans are rooted in His love for us and secured by His unshakable faithfulness. When we face doubts, delays, or difficulties, these two truths remain: God will never leave us, and His promises will always come to pass.
Reflection Questions:
- In what areas of your life can you see God’s love at work, even when circumstances are difficult?
- How have you experienced God’s faithfulness in the past, and how does that encourage you to trust His plans for the future?
- What promises from God’s Word can you hold onto today to remind yourself of His faithfulness and love?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your deep and unchanging love for me. I am humbled that You love me not because of anything I’ve done, but because of who You are. Thank You for Your faithfulness that never wavers, for Your Word that is true, and for the assurance that Your plans for my life are rooted in Your love and will never fail. Help me to trust You more deeply and rest in Your perfect plan, even when I don’t understand. I place my future in Your hands. In Jesus' name, Amen.
