Amazing 12 days in Rome
I thank the Lord for this amazing experience. Met many wonderful people with a passion for the Lord and or course it a joy to work with my good friends and mentors. We heard wonderful testimonies of what God is doing all over the world. More importantly it made us realise that we don't have much time and we must do all we can to end gospel poverty.
I must say that the experience here was distinctly different from the other sessions I have been part of in the past, offering new insights and challenges that enriched my understanding and growth.
I learnt many things from the catholic perspective and why they do what they do. Although I don't agree with many things they practise, I was simply floored by their reverence and awe for the present of God. During our services, they were speaking in tongues, prophecy and the whole pentecostal works, just like what it was in the 70's and 80's. They are more pentecostal than the pentecostlas themselves. Sadly we don't see these in our churches today.
One of the priests was having a very bad toothache. Even though he took strong pain killers, it did not help. One of the participants was a dental surgeon. After examining the priest, he said that the tooth was rotten and had to be extracted immediately. I suggested to the priest if we can pray. Together with the other brothers we prayed in the name of Jesus for healing. He was healed instantaneously. No more pain to the glory of God. Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever.
St Peter's Basilica is always filled with people, especially on Wednesdays when the Pope delivers his homily. These people had so much reverence and respect for God and his temple, which many of us in the protestant churches lack. If only Christ and the Word becomes their focus......More than 1 billion catholics in the world.
On the last day before departure, Sreedhar, Joey, Ayyas (events coordinator) and myself we had good Kerala lunch and the best gelato in Rome. It was much cheaper than in Singapore. It was a good time of fellowship and recounting the faithfulness of God.
I arrived home today (30 Nov) at 7:45PM.
