Key to knowing God's will for the future

This morning I addressed this important question about knowing God's will for the future.

  • Deut 28:6: You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

It means:

In all your business and employments of life whether within doors or without; in the administration of every office, whether more public or private; and in all their journeys going out and coming home; and particularly when they went out to war, and returned, all should be attended with success.

In fact a similar verse is also recorded in Psalms 121:8:

  • the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore

This is an extension of the blessing:

  • Now and forever – Even your future is going to be a blessing.

Rev Tissa, Weerasingha from Sri Lanka, said this, "The guarantee to knowing the unrevealed will of God is to obey the revealed will of God."

I dealt with three of the revealed will of God this morning.

A life for the Salvation of people (fulfilling the Great Commission)

  • 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

A life of Sanctification

  • 1 Thess 4:3-4 - For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
  • 1 Peter 4:2As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.

A life of Satisfaction (thanksgiving)

  • 1 Tess 5:18 -  In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (KJV)
