PEC Missions Update - Apr/May 2020 : Serving the community during the lockdown
Covid19 has literally stopped the world on it tracks. Even our Missions work was affected. Our children program had to be suspended, churches could not gather to worship and even gospel meetings have been hampered. In fact even our missions giving was hit.
But one thing is for sure. Our God reigns, even through this pandemic. He has been kind and we saw His faithfulness and favour during these months. We indeed praise God for all that He enabled us to do even during these trying times.
During this lockdown, many poor people were deprived of basic necessities in the different states in India. Even one meal a day was difficult for the poor. We felt led to do something to help the poor and needy of all religions.
By the grace of God we raised about $11,000 and the money was used to provide rations, cooked food and other basic essentials for the poor.
Over two weeks in the end of Apr, our coordinators in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bihar distributed packs to more than 1500 families in these states.
In Telengana and Andhra Pradesh – Bishop Nehemiah
This was an opportunity to show the love of Jesus, to be the salt and the light to this dying world. Our coordinators travelled to remote places to distribute the bags.
In Chhattisgarh – Pst Prabu Lal
As our teams went to the ground to distribute these goodies, the people were moved to tears and it gave an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. In fact there was one village that opposed our church planters coming there before, readily welcomed them this time and heard the gospel message.
In Tamil Nadu – Pst Thomas Jaya
The needs are plentiful and there are still many in desperate needs. We wished we could do more. We thank God that even in these trying times; we were able to reach out to the community. This has given us a stepping stone to make future inroads to the communities we helped.
In Odisha - Bishop Anjan
We are indeed grateful PEC and our sponsors who had graciously given in these difficult days. I pray that God will honour and bless them. We are indebted to Bishop Nehemiah, Bishop Anjan, Pst Jaya Thomas and Pst Prabu Lal and their teams for making the effort to reach all these communities. We are blessed to have these men in our team who have one objective: “Ending Gospel Poverty”.
To God be the glory.
