Seek Him


Psalms 34:4-7 - I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.Those who look to him are radiant;  their faces are never covered with shame.This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;  he saved him out of all his troubles.The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalmist outlines five blessings that comes when we seek the Lord.
  1. God answers - He is a prayer answering God. We serve a living God. He answers His people. When we have a walking relationship with God we can hear Him speak to us through His Holy Spirit. Jer 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
  2. God delivers - There were many difficult situation that David got himself into. Yet when he called on God, theLord delivered him. Psalms 107:6 - Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
  3. God removes our shame - Because of our sins and negligence, our lives can be filled with shame. But when we call upon God, He not only delivers us but He removes our shame as well. Bathsheba was a good example. Although he live was filled with shame because of her affair with David, eventually her son became the next king of Israel. Now she is Queen mother. What an elevation!. God can do the same for us. Hey 4:16 - Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
  4. God saves - Not only from all the difficult moments in live, but also from our sins. He gives us eternal life. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  5. God protects - He encamps around those who fear Him. What a blessed assurance that He is always by our side. Psalms 23 - Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,  for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
The key is to seek Him. 

May the Lord shower you with His special blessings in your life.

John 19:30 - When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. It's Good Friday again. What a trip to Nepal

I am sitting at the airport restaurant in Kathmandu, checked in and waiting for my departure to New Delhi and from there, onward to Singapore.  Just sipping and enjoying the Americano coffee and a slice of cheese cake as I reminiscent my last nine days in Nepal. It has been a incredibly tough trip but one filled with joy, great satisfaction and challenges. Tough because of the bad roads, tracks and mountain trekking that really tested my endurance and my back was sore.  Couple of knocks on the head as the vehicle danced to the tune of the undulating terrain. Days when I had terrible diarrhoea, running from one mountain toilet to another. Thank God I had Dr Mike Ong on this trip who is a medical doctor from Singapore, who attended to my condition. Times when we had to sleep on the cold floor with thin sheets of cloth, with rodents in the vicinity. Temperatures dropped to a low of 10-12 degrees centigrde in the nights. Devotion - Psalms 44: 6-7 - Its God who gives the victory

Psalms 44:6-7 - I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. Any soldier will know that the basic weapon of warfare, in those days, were the bow and sword. Without which no soldier will not venture into the battle field. Even the famed Goliath was geared in full battle order when he faced David with the stones and the sling. Isn't it a paradox then that David, one of the finest soldiers Israel had ever produced, proclaims that its not the bow and the sword that gives the victory. Its is the Lord, Jehovah, that gives the victory. I don't think David is trying to say that we should not prepare ourselves for warfare. His concern is that we recognize that ultimately its the Lord that gives the victory.
