Just thinking

At the heart of unrelenting bitterness you will find a self-righteous spirit who has forgotten their own need for forgiveness and restoration. Pst Rondey Vickers

I found the above quote on Facebook a true representation of the human heart condition. I had struggled with this sometimes in the past but thank God I am free now.

Ravi Zacharias often says that no other world view describes the human heart better than the Judeo-Christian world view.

Jeremiah 17:9 -The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

This is so true about bitterness that we are unable to let go. It haunts us to extreme emotions of hatred and revenge sometime and reaps unnecessary consequences to one's own peril. The blame is always on the other person. In doing so we forget that we are the ones who need help in forgiveness and restoration. It stems from self righteousness, which is a blind spot for most of us. The net result is we are the losers NOT the ones who are bitter against. It stifles our growth, our spiritual walk and many times causes unwanted physical ailments.

The words of Jesus is a reminder of what we who are filed by the Holy Spirit aught to do:  Luke 6:27-31But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either

We need to let go and release forgivenss. Until that sincerely happens, bitterness will be our constant companion. Thank God we have the Holy Spirit to help us in our infirmity. He gives

Eph 4:32 -Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Let the Righteous Judge do what is necessary. On our part lets boy the Word.

Isa 40:29 -He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
