Promise verse for Jun 18

I shared this verse in the morning prayer at 6:00AM today. 20 faithful people came for the prayer. I guess rain was an excuse for some. Nevertheless the Holy Spirit was present. And He always is, rain or shine. How much more should we!!!!!

A favourite Psalm of many but the actual circumstances that led David to pen it could be fascinating.   This Psalm was written after his experience in Gath of the Philistines. That experience is well captured in 1 Samuel 21 and 27.

The same shepherd boy:
  • Who killed Goliath with one stone and a sling
  • Who defied the armies of the Philistines
  • Remember "Saul killed his thousands and David his ten thousands"
  • Who won all the battles he fought
Now runs for his life and looks for a weapon
  • Goes to Gath the city of Goliath with Goliath's sword
  • His judgements seems to wane
  • Discretion seems distorted
  • He resorts to lies, deception gives in to fear and makes rash decisions
  • Trust in God seems decimated

In spite of his mistakes, in spites of his indiscretion God was there who delivered him from all his afflictions

-->
Ps 34:19 -“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, much more than the average person.

BUT.....that God for BUT

the LORD delivers him out of them all.

My response:
  1. Be patient
  2. Trust the Lord
  3. Exercise faith and pray fr a miracle.

verses 4-5 - I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant  their faces are never covered with shame.
