Can’t keep silent

2 Kings 7:3-11 This scenario takes place during the period of Israel’s Divided Monarchy, and in the Northern Kingdom Israel, specifically during the reign of Joram. Joram is one in a long line of really bad kings in Israel. Idolatry held sway for the vast majority of these kings, and they generally relied on their own devices, and not on the Lord. Because of their wickedness, God allowed the enemy to lay siege of Samaria. Worst still, there was a grave famine and the nation was hit with an economic crisis. Death was the only option remaining. In spite of the King’s arrogance, God through His prophet promised to reverse the situation. Now the narrative shifts from the city to the outskirts where 4 lepers were contemplating their future. Their lot was as same as those in the city or maybe worst. Lepers those days were considered outcasts and with no food, no security and no help, death was certain. But they decided to do the unthinkable; go to the enemy’s camp for help. It w...

Stand outside or outstanding

This morning I read from a friend's facebook post which said, "I am going to stand outside. If anyone asks, I am outstanding". I was reminded of what our daughter Jessica said recently. When she was in secondary one, her teacher asked her to stand outside the class because she was very "loud". But she told her friends that she was not "standing out but outstanding".  Not sure if she was trying to justify herself. But have seen her life, this young lady is truly outstanding, and so are our other children, in their own ways. And all this is because of God who has been very, very kind to our family. Jessica worked hard, very hard indeed to achieve her dreams, something I know God wanted her to be. She went through so many struggles, discouragement and pain . Yet she came out victorious.  Its a good lesson for all. With God on our side, nothing is impossible. Work hard, don't give up, persevere. In times of difficulty look up to Him an...

Mom's advance birthday celebration

Image
Yesterday the Tamil congregation celebrated mom's 77th birthday after the evening service. It was such joy. My mother is one of the pillars, or the main pillar, I would say, of PEC. A woman of prayer, commitment and dedication like no other. She is my biggest missions supporter. Only heaven knows how much she has done for the Kingdom. Happy advance birthday greetings mom. Her birthday is on 21 Mar.

Arrived home

We returned hom safely this morning on 18 Mar. After 27 hrs on the road, in transits, on in the air, we finally returned home this morning at about 10 am. I praise God for another wonderful mission trip. Specially blessed to have our friends from BethanyLife and they were indeed a blessing to us and to those we met on the trip. Every time we go we see the need for more workers and partners in the field. May God touch many more to move out of their comfort zones to fulfil the Great Commission. Also gratefful to Elder Albert and his dear wife Josephine, whose passion and faithfulness to the Lord is contagious and inspirational. To God be the glory.

Children's Program

It was an exciting day. First it was a 3 hr drive to visit Pst Soban’s church in a village in Assam. We were there three years ago. A group of 60 people gathered for the morning meeting. It was good to see the work expanding. His church building is too small for the congregation and that is a happy problem. In addition Pst Soban is running an English tuition center near his home.  A humble Tuition Centre He had constructed a small hut with rattan where he conducts his lessons. About 20 children are attending the program. The intent is to reach the parents through this program.  With Pst Oban and family He also shared his plans of having a small medical clinic for the village. I was really blessed to see how the work is expanding and the big vision Pst Soban has. Next we went to PEC Romona for the children’s program. About 100 children and 70 adults had gathered for the program. The program was very interesting and ...
